I'm down to only wearing them when out and about with partner or at home and we are interacting. They do what I need except the crowded room aspect which I did not find the expensive ones doing either.
Jaspa 3 uses 310 batteries which average 50 cents each for a week. ( you can get a set that are rechargeable but then have to be sent in to get the batteries replaced....I decided regular batteries were a better choice.)
The Jaspa 3s cost $799 all in Australia and fully covered by our insurance.
Then $299 for extended warranty - also covered by our insurance. That $429 is for 1 hearing aid....$799 for a set .
I'm just now ordering my second set of 60 batteries. I do find the little plastic tubes clog up and need a clean time to time...will think a battery is gone but just a plugged tube.
Putting headphones on with the HAs is is a wake up OUCH call as feedback gets intense.
I do want to try a more current set of Apple Earpods with the enhanced capability but no $ at the moment. I won't keep them but just for reference.
For the $1000 all in I paid ( covered by private health insurance ) I'm okay with the value but they really are $20 items from a manufacturing standpoint.
Quite happy I don't need to fiddle with an App. There are 4 settings I can click through plus I think 10 volume settings....I never go above 4.
In an echoy space with lots of noise and conversation they do not improve much....need to be facing the person at close range and the two girls are far too soft spoken and both tend to let their voices trail off and then use way too much effort to project instead of keeping their volume at a steady amount. I'll get 90% of the conversation then they trail away and want to repeat the entire comment.
University prof friends partner knows how to project at an even volume....he is quite easy to hear. He's used to a room full of students.
Forgetting to take them off in the shower is something to get used to but so far no lasting damage on a quick dousing...they let you know quickly.
I use and equalizer where I can to boost the frequency range I'm deficient in....only have 45% of original capability in the midrange = hard to hear dialogue etc.
The sound bar I have has a "Clear Voice" setting and that works,
The high end headphones offer tailored sound settings so ai don't feel I'm missing much.
I do like to hear the crickets and stuff that I miss when HAs are not in place but then traffic is intrusive.
