We do have to keep in mind that Ted's initial diagnosis (blown head gasket) was pretty much correct given that the engine was still together in the bike at that time. WHY the head gasket was blown, could not have been known at that time without disassembly.

We do have to keep in mind that Ted's initial diagnosis (blown head gasket) was pretty much correct given that the engine was still together in the bike at that time. WHY the head gasket was blown, could not have been known at that time without disassembly.
Theoretically, if there's no damage to the cylinders (deck, bores etc..) you can source a new head. However, you will still have to strip the barrels off to check piston clearances, new rings etc... not mention any valve work that may have to be done to whatever head you manage to find. At that point you've probably invested enough cash to justify a new motor anyway...
