You need to be a competent street rider obviously, with some experience. Otherwise you are a danger to yourself and others

Just go for it, you wont regret it. One of my good friends didn't even ride on the road his first time was on a track.

I'd like to race. If i can get into the 1:50s at Shannonville long I think I'd like to try a Novice 600 race with Soar next year. Just have to figure out the logistics for getting a race license, etc.
 
Theres quite a few 600's above 2:00 in novice at RACE, just do it! I had my first race two weeks ago and it's ruined track days for me. If anything it'll help you get into the 1:50's sooner.
 
I was there watching on Sunday. Not sure which one you were, but I'd like to be mid pack and it seems 1:55s will put you there. And you are probably right a race weekend would get me there sooner.

License first.
 
I'm actually not coming out this weekend, REALLY wish I was, I've never ridden nelson just full several times and pro once. I'll be at the next round on labour day weekend and I was thinking of doing an endurance race at SOAR but that's not %100 yet.

I had a 1:53 in practice on Friday or Saturday but because I only rode 6 laps in the morning then waited till the afternoon to race I wasn't fully up to speed I don't think, atleast that's the excuse I'm using lol. 1:55 was my previous fastest time so hopefully I can run 1:53 consistantly and have a 1:51 as my fastest. 1:49 is my goal for the end of the year....setting that bar REAL high, but what's life without goals?
 
This round is Fabi, not Nelson. I hate Nelson.

I'm hoping to hit the remaining 3 RACE rounds, depends on how much contingency I can win.
 
Oh whoops, ok have ridden fabi either lol. Well then I'll be sure to stop by and say hi next round, your in am sbk right?
 
Damn, I was hoping you were up in pro...cuts into my contingency possibilities lol. Well hopefully I can give you some competiton and we can have some good close racing. Good luck this weekend.

I've had a good year so far, if I can keep it up I'll likely get the black numbers next year.
 
Bleh, Pro. All speed, not much skill, major chance of crashing through two.

I like the Fabi, the long track and I enjoy the Nelson but it eats my rear tire like a snack.
 
Not half of what is required for the other layouts.

Maybe so, but I'm far from the only guy who has been around Shannonville for more than 15 years who has the opinion. There's a lot of us that don't go to Pro track days and who would prefer not to run it for races. Steve Crevier comes to mind, is that a name you've heard before?

For every person I've met that doesn't like Pro, I have met ten that don't like Nelson. It's a good track to test on and spectate, but it's terrible to race on.
