Has the city lost it's mind...

16 yo, young offender, this will have near zero impact on their future, other than likely rinse and repeat in two years or less...

It is another area that needs serious attention. Yes young people can and will do stupid stuff but attempted murder, handgun, car jacking should equal tried and sentenced as an adult IMO (even just one of them), they can go to juvy until 18 and then off to big boy prison to serve out the rest of the adult length sentence.
I wasn't trying to say the justice system would impact their life. I was meaning that they are solidly on a path to being a perpetual %^#&@bird.

Depending on how my day is going I waver between shoot them all and let God sort it out and varying degrees of feeling sorry for them, never enjoying respect. It seems a lot of the perpetrators equate fear with respect.

I wonder about psychopaths and sociopaths. Several bits I have read imply that psychos are born and sociopaths are made. Psychos it is claimed, have no consciences.

That doesn't mean psychopaths are all evil drooling murders. Many are people that set goals for themselves and as long as the goals are in line they are friendly easy going people. The trouble is if the psycho fails at his / her goal all hell can break out. How far wil a psycho go if you tarnish their image?

Are we getting more psychopaths or are more of them failing at achieving their dreams and coming out of the closet, so to speak. If a person has it burnt into their brain that they will become a homeowner with a BMW and posh job do they become criminal if their dream doesn't come true.

There is no indication their fortunes are about to change. Should I worry?

Kids running over cops in stolen cars. K9 shot dead. Carjacking victims tossed out of moving cars.

And in other news......

And another. 16 yo on bail for attempted murder and under house arrest gets caught with a handgun carjacking people at 23:30. His future is very bleak. I wonder if increasing bail to the entire net worth of surety would change this pattern? Would you bail your *^&#bird if you were literally putting everything on the line?

That's part of the problem... The courts rarely make the surety pay when the accused breaches bail.

The things that most people would think are 'deterrents'.. are not.
A lot of offenders would rather be in an adult prison than a youth facility.
A lot of offenders would rather serve time in the federal penitentiary than in a provincial prison.

Shooting the K9 is the same punishment as shooting the officer

Hamilton today: Trudy was heartbroken about refugees being on the streets, but said the cities and municipalities need to pony up for the majority of their housing costs (didn’t you welcome them with open arms?).

Whoa, back the truck up. Did Sophie clock skippy in the forehead with a frying pan or something?

Maybe this is the domestic violence emergency we are hearing about.

Wow, looking like it is getting easier and easier to obtain an illegally smuggled firearm these days. Can't say I ever needed one when I was 16, 18 or 19 years of age.

There should be a law against having illegal guns that would fix it

Lobotomy scar?

When do you worry?

I was at Costco and a 20ish bean pole of a guy was having an issue. Pulling his tee shirt over his head and back on repeatedly. Then he was touchy feely with a bunch of the boxes of stuff on the shelves.

He went back to the tee shirt thing and then hugged and kissed a structural column. He was wearing some track type shorts and no visible weapon but I avoided eye contact and kept a distance.

When I was leaving I saw him in the parking lot touching the shopping carts and doing the tee shirt thing again.

Was he hearing voices? on drugs?
