No matter how much lower the speed limit gets there will still be ppl get hit and die cuz alot of them just donnnttt LOOK before they cross the street!
 
Maybe teaching people to cross the road would be a better starting point. Fine, cross the road without looking and with an arrogant look on your face. But when that 2 ton metal missile twats you in the legs and throws you 20ft in the air I'll bet you wished you'd turned your head 90 degrees to have a look.

Pedestrians = ****wits

Ther have been studies done in the past to determine the speed at which head unjuris from hitting the hoods of cars become non fatal. Maybe 30kph is the magic number.

Unfortunately punishing everyone for others stupidity is the way of this effed up liberal world we live in. I'm tired of saying the same old thing but the Government of Canada needs to educate everyone (but most importantly very young children) in how to cross a road safely. And safely isn't safely assuming the motorists respect your right to walk out without looking.

Isn't that the job of their parents?

The vast majority of the pedestrian-related collisions were the fault of the pedestrian. However, the Coroner believes that the motorists should be targeted with the responsibility to reduce these injuries in the future. Brilliant!!!
 
I'm up for banning all motorized transport. Either walk or bicycle.

Speed restricted bicycles only.
 
as long as they dont take down the 80 zones were fine...infact all residential should be 40 city 50 and rurals should go up to 90

Just being sarcastic. We're going down the road of implementing too many ludicrous laws.

Speed doesn't kill. Reckless driving, riding and walking does. But again retarded folks need retarded laws.

From a reduced injury point of view, he's correct. However...there is obviously a balance that has to be struck between speed and pedestrian responsibility. I don't think anyone is going to be changing speed limits. They had a few other recommendations in there and perhaps those will be acted on. Lower speed limits to 30kmh would be political suicide and I suspect nobody is going to try that..
 
Even if a car was moving at 1km/hr, it can still injure or kill a person.... cuz its a 2 ton metal box against bones and flesh...... these law maker and complainers never thought of common sense physics i bet.
