Well, I think that for WB and the OPP to go to this amount of trouble and cost must be the result of previous issues that PO'd residents and politicians.

WB is known to be a hooligan and party destination, maybe locals are fed up with the antics and have determined that the benefit (tourist $$ for local businesses) is just not worth the cost.

I've no issue with focused enforcement taking cars with loud exhausts, unsafe suspension modifications, suspended and uninsured drivers and improperly registered cars off the road. The more the better.

Actually, the locals are on the towns main Facebook Group defending the rights of these kids to come here. They want them to come. You don't move to a beach town and expect quiet. The Mayor has really screwed himself here. He re-opened the main beach after four years of it being covered in six feet of sand and it was a really good summer here only to unload this tyranny on the town on the closing weekend of the beach.

The OPP are bored. They are likely making double, triple pay working the long weekend. H20i has outsmarted them. So the result is them harassing tourists.

I'd bet that most of these people have some financial interest in seeing the maximum number of tourists in WB.

Anyways, you can't please everyone. I'd wager that if I found the cure for cancer there would be a FB page trashing me because I'd put a million doctors out of business. Cry me a river.

Having lived 10k up the road in Wendake Beach I can attest to this. After knowing you've lived there a year or so the locals will finally put you on temporary probation

Yup, guilty. It's hard not to have an opinion seeing such a misuse of resources and tyranny. The beach is a place people come to get away from nonsense, not enter it.

Seeing the gravel baracade on the road changed my opinion to the extreme. If EMS can't make it through, someone in the town (and there are a lot of older people) could have died. That's just reckless negligence and a whopper of a lawsuit.

H20i will likely show up next weekend. They duped the police last year.

So, let's examine the facts as presented.
1) Squids PUBLICLY ANNOUNCE that they have decided to go to Wasaga Beach and put on a show, despite the fact that a lot of the cars are fart bombs and some of the drivers have no proper insurance, licence or legitimate plates.
2) The locals and the OPP get their knockers in a twist and decide to limit beach access to those that are breaking the HTA.
3) The civil libertarians in the crowd decry the limits being put on people to come into town and be a-holes.
4) Tickets get written, cars get towed, drivers get their pants pulled down.
It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the slam/bam/thank you ma'am crowd was looking for a confrontation and were stupid enough to see it through, despite the possible consequences. Some folks are just special, they likely went to special school on the short bus...

Agreed. The ONLY people that want the gong show there are those that have financial interest. Hotel, motel, and store owners.

The locals not profiting…would prefer them not to bring their garbage modded cars over.

The organizers and primary ‘freedom’ folks won’t be getting pulled over, arrested and charged. It’ll be the idiot kids that think it’s cool to stick it to the man.

Well, the idiots that want to have pickup truck shows do that in barrie. They do a decent job of keeping it quiet before it happens but hundreds of truck doing burnouts and drinking in a store parking lot quickly get them attention. Then the cops show up and ticket as many as they can.
