H-D has a new boss

Well I guess all I can say is the paint is beautiful and I like the classic looks and potato potato sound.
I will concede this debate now and leave it at that.
At least we now have an opinion that really does count for something.
An owner that has logged the miles and found the short comings and shared His opinion.
thank You

Harley threads should be insta-bans

Sure, lets all go back to arguing about politics and Covid on a motorcycle forum.

You can’t use Yellow Wolf as a proper example. He makes his living filming on the dragon, and has done countless runs of it...

That, and the suspension on the bike has been completely replaced and raised up to make clearance for the bags.
No way would that pace be possible on a stock bike.

Fair argument, but my comments stand - there no shortage of content out there with guys on cruisers and touring bikes wiping wannabes off the map as soon as you get into the squirrlies. Like I always say, going fast in a straight line is easy, but if you can't lean your bike over past 10 degrees without having to duckwalk you're going to get embarrassed by any old fart with skills on a "big fat and slow" bike.

It was fun, ride safe and we have to love our rides first ... respect

Well, I'm assuming you've been down at the Dragon. I haven't come across a cruiser that was being held up by a sport bike - in 10 vacations down there.....
Me, I've been impressed by *ONE* cruiser rider's skills. He was making a ton of sparks all over the place, trying to outpace my friends and I on sport bikes. We had zero need to move off the saddle into "attack mode"... he gave up after about 15 turns and waved us past, with a notable slump in his shoulders.

You sadly mistaken about exceeding imports .

I bought it based on a quick test ride . Once I really got used to the bike the flaws came out . Don't get me wrong I love the bike . But I need to spend 3k to get the suspension to get where it should be . Plus 1 to 2 k to get the stereo to where it needs to be .
The only stereo needed is under the bags, and I mean tight precision handling isn't exactly what they're designed for, but professional riders like the OPP golden helmets display team has shown that road glides can handle some pretty impressive maneuvers. Not here to argue about your personal experience, but the bike can do it.

All the maneuvers are at pretty low speeds . So suspension does not really get a work out .

Experienced & highly skilled cruiser guy vs rookie or amateur sportbike guy was my point.

Obviously no experienced/skilled sportbike guy is going to get their ass whipped on a bike that only has half (or less) the lean angle of a sportbike. But they are apt to be surprised by one at some point if nothing else. But we all know there's a lot of people on sport bikes who have no business being on one. Worse yet is when they think they're pros.

Hmmm.... let's see... Motor commissioned by Buell. Motor design by Porsche. Fuelling by Buell.
HD suddenly decided they wanted a liquid cooled muscle bike. Promptly added 70 lbs (!!!!) of dead metal to "make the lines of the engine suit the motorcycle." Buell promptly dropped the engine, as it was now too heavy to race with.

I doubt the motor was commissioned by Buell . The VR1000 motor was not competitive in racing . Harley just could not build a liquid cooled motor . So Harley called on Porsche to help in designing a liquid cooled motor . The word on the street is that the motor was ground up Porsche . It is probably the best motor Harley produced .

you mean...i'm not Street Rossi? but..i have the turtle helmet bruh

I wouldn't worry about Harley's demo aging out. Funny thing about age, its an incurable disease that everyone catches. As riders age, they won't be so comfortable on an R6. You get closer to 40 and a lower, more comfortable seat with a straight up feet forward riding position starts to look really good. As you become less interested in dragging your knees, you tend to worry less about a pipe or bag scraping the ground in a turn.

You seemed to skip the one category with solid growth that addresses that without killing your tailbone.

ADV bikes..... I came across a 93 year old still riding a BMW ADV model on the Stromtrooper site.

There is a wide range of ADV bikes, many very affordable and including those that the R6 won't outrun.

Average age on the StromTrooper forum is mid 50s.

Covid has sucked all the spare cash out of the economy and those with fat retirement funds. Under $10k in Canada is the magic range and at least Harley has a couple of contenders.
They have to be reliable tho ...and get over the negative image ....and loud pipes. :coffee:

If my wife said she was never going to get on the FJR again I would have the 2020 S1000XR in my garage this season. Love the FJR but something lighter would be nice.
