GSXR Master Cylinder Recall

They were also the first to put fuel injection in a sport bike

...I'm probably wrong about this.

LOL a long time ago my first bike was a kawi, just plenty of gsxr's after that... It's not that I think GSXR's are the best bikes in the world, but I do think they deliver the best bang for the buck. Usually cheaper than the other 3 japs, and lots of cheap used parts to do your own maintenance. In the 2000s the gsxr's usually came in with more features in stock than the other bikes like: steering damper, gear indicator, slipper clutch. Because of these little things they were consistely winning sportbike of the year awards. But at the end of the day, the rider is the limiting factor to what all of these sportbikes can do and you can't go wrong with any of them.

Im not saying anything bad about the brand or other models and years, my post was in response to someone saying they didnt need to do a recall, only bikes being stunted had broken frames, etc etc.......I seen mint street bikes with cracked frames, bottom line if that was the bike you owned you would want a recall also....Plain and simple there was a problem with those frames in those years on that model....Just look at the hundreds of people on GIXXER forum and others that had their cracked frames replaced...

I have broken 5 kaswaski frames myself, but I actually stunt them, like real stunts in a parking lot, not wheelies down the road. I have done wheelies down the road for 10 years but thats not stunting IMO..I have also had a few different ZX6R street bikes over the years, that I do stunts and wheelies on the street and I never broke the frame on any of them that were not my full time stunt bike. I crashed them I did wheelies, but they dont break from just being ridden hard or wheeiles or even a crash or 2. You need to crash the bike over and over and over for them to crack.....When it comes to breaking frames you are debating with the wrong person, as not only have I broken a lot of them myself I also have worked on or replaced about 20 different frames from stress cracking due to stunting ....That is not what these mint never dropped GSXR frames where going through.....I am in the process of building a full steel 2013 ZX6R stunt bike, I didnt break the frame yet but I know since it will be my full time stunt bike I eventually will crack it...So rather then waste my time and money on the stock frame I bought a $1500 custom made steel frame....

I will say it one more time, I saw normal street bikes that were never dropped ever, come in with cracked frames.....Normal people that dont even do wheelies, heck some were commuters, and broken frames...Thats a problem that requires a recall, no matter what brand....Same should have been done with the 04-05 ZX10R as I have seen a lot of those stress crack also, the last one I worked on had multiple stress cracks in it.....I guess there just was not enough people out there that reported them to force a recall, unlike Suzuki too many of them to hide the face they needed a recall...

Yep, I crack my arse off when riding with people & some random dude says "your headlight is blown"

Yep, crap for track, fine for street.

Crap in most eyes considering todays technology and what you get on a stock bike today, but back in 03 that was top of the line kit for a stock bike from the dealer....Cant really compare that to a master that you take off a newer bike...evolution! few years from now the same will be said about the stock master cylinders that come on 2013's today

Waiting for 2WET to jump in with his ... interesting opinion
Didn't you hear, he got sponsored by the new twinkie and is moving.....

I don't know, I did only 1 track day with the stock braking system (had fresh brake fluid and properly bled system), and my brakes couldn't stop me at all, pinching my fingers to the bars after a lap or two, so I had to progressively adjust the pazzo lever to increase the available travel. Don't know if it was cylinder, lines, or what, but I changed it all except the calipers and rotors (pads, lines, accossato master)---the difference was phenomenal! It's a heavy bike with a 200lb of meat on top. To put it plainly, I found the stock braking system to be SCARY! And I was a very very fresh and slow newbie on that day, probably not using too much hard braking at all. Never had a problem with the OEM on the street though, and those who have been on rides with me know that I was spaking her hard all the time.

That's if you're only counting Japanese bikes ... Ducati had it 10 years earlier in the 851

wrong ......1981 kawi gpz1100 had FI

The Kawi KZ 1000 was FI in 1980, Honda's CX500 Turbo was FI in 81 as well. Suzuki started in 99 with the TL and SV.

Were these bikes readlining at 13k rpm?

Looks like these Gixxer master cylinders were getting a little....

A letter is not required, simply call any Suzuki dealer and give them the VIN #, if it hasn't been done, they'll make an appointment for you to get it looked after.

Checked the Ministry of Transportation and this is what I found for 2003-2015 GSXR 600, 750 and 1000.

1000

750

600

My question is, if there is a recall. How do the none "original" owners get that Suzuki Letter?

Where does it say 2003's are affected? I upgraded both in my bikes already, but thinking maybe I should put the old crappy MC back and go get a new one that's supposed to be better
