GSX-R to Supermoto

OP why not look at the new Yamahas - they are motard style seating rather than SS.My kid hated his SV650s because of seating - loves the FZ8 and his insurance was the same even with 110 HP.He comes from a dirt backround and loves the seat position on the FZ

Naked w upright seating is the trend and the value for money is wicked. Those 2x4 seats on the coverted off roaders get old real quick.
Do you just make recommendations based on what you and your son ride? The OP is asking about supermotos, what the hell is an FZ8?Anyways, I think an SM would be awesome for around town and overall hooliganism, but I wouldn't give up my 1000 for it. As Roomie stated, it would be nice to have as a second bike. Keep us posted OP, let us know what you end up with! CHEERS! ;)

LOL, looks like GUESS WHO? is up to speed.......

My friend lent me his supermoto for a few days. I loved how speed bumps became speed jumps.

looks like I'm actually making the switch! I sold my gsxr for $4000 today and looking at a 2005 drz400sm tomorrow....

Regardless of whether an SM is the bike you need for everything... you're about to have a lot of fun. Congrats on taking the plunge and good luck finding your ride!

Where the hell is 'Kargo' when you need him to reply!

The seat isn't that bad imo. It's skinny enough to alternate cheeks on a long ride.

I rode mine 2 full tanks of straight highway on an 1100km day and didn't find the seat to be any worse than any other bike I've owned.

You can get a seat concepts kit for fairly cheap that makes it a lot better.

I switch from zx6r to crf 450r sm blue plated 2 years back and love it
I have a jel pac seat on it and it is more comfortable them zx6

It's in very good cosmetic condition. You could eat off the engine. bought it off a guy that was 50 years old and owned it the last 6 years. He kept it inside his house, in his kitchen lol. The km are higher than I would like 46,000km but looks like he did a good job with maintenance. I took it all apart today and checked everything, all the wiring is oem nothing hacked, the entire bike is stock so I get to do some upgrades if I want.

I'm happy with it, gonna be a fun summer

Congrats! And a stock bike is a great bike (to buy, then you make it yours).

Well it's official. Picked up this 2005 DR-Z400SM for $3300

46,000 km's is a lot, probably 13,000 on one wheel! ( kidding) Nice bike, looks like a lot of fun! Perfect second bike!

Congrats on the purchase. Hit the road running east west through enfield east side of enfield. Unassumed roads and road allowances all over the area. Things you avoided and ignored you can now enjoy. No exit signs are invitations. Give me a shout if you want a tour of some of the local fun spots.

Too cool and 80-20 dual sport on it so you can tackle a little bit of trail. Hell that thing would be a hoot in Ganaroska and you are not far at all.

Congrats on the purchase! SM's are incredible fun. I had a cbr600rr and went totally offroad last summer. Began to miss being able to jump on a street bike for a quick romp, and really wanted a SM as a do it all bike. Picked up a new ride this spring and I can't wipe the silly grin off my face every time I ride it! 250lbs of euphoria:
