GP BIKES 2014 Trackdays

Just caught the last session before lunch. Looking good. We are all missing a beauty track day

What an absolutely amazing track!!! After my first session I almost went home, the little hills before the corners were freaking me out, I couldn't figure out the triple apex right hander, the hairpin left wasn't cooperating with my new quick turn throttle (too much slack), etc. I figured I'll give it one more session. Second session was much better, smoother lines, almost got the triple apex figured out, and was passing 10 bikes at a time (super fun).

I got pulled over by the novice police and got kicked out and moved to intermediate. Much faster guys in that group, and more aggressive passing allowed so that was good (only pass on the outside in novice? SCREW THAT!). It was so so so much fun on a liter bike, so many flowing corners, double/triple apexes, you can just smash the throttle wide open and ride it out. New Q3's didn't let me down all day, could never get them to slide, just smash the throttle and pick the front tire up at any lean angle. I ran 31f 26r (cold). Rear is a 200/50 because I got shipped the wrong tire, seemed to work fine though.

A huge thanks goes out to GP bikes. Flawlessly run track day, BBQ at lunch was super tasty. Two ambulances on site, very very few red flags, not as many crashes as I was expecting. Sessions were run great. Instructor riders were good too (except when they are giving me crap! lol :().

I was starting to get tired and make mistakes around 3:30pm, a few spits of rain on my visor, then my bike started making this loud squeaking noise! I pulled into the pits, lucky not more damage done, could have been bad!

Thanks again GP bikes!!! I'll pre-signup for all your other Mosport RDT days, this track is amazing.

Took a few pictures while I there, album link in the following thread:

Mr. 351 there was SUPER hard to pass!! I was being on best behaviour after getting a talking to about my aggressive passing (been watching too many Marcel Irnie videos), eventually after following him around for a few laps I could see he was slow into the carousel after the front straight and also going up the hill after the carousel he backed out of the throttle (where you can hold it wide open minus for the monster wheelie at the top because of the hill), so I was able to take him there.

Going up that little hill after the carousel became my favourite overtaking place. Even though you're overtaking on the inside (which they tell you not to do), there's tons of room. I assume most people backed off the throttle going up the hill because you can't see where the track goes :D

Great pics, a few of me too, thanks.

You're awesome. LOL... Hey Tim, it might be time for the picture.

Jamie, are you going to SMP next Sunday? I'll be there. I'd like to try my XRAC pads, EBC rotors with OEM MC against your CP1's,Braketech rotors and Brembo MC. ;)

Thanks for the review of the track, though.

Are they running long? If so count me damn in! We can swap bikes (as long as yours is GP shift!) :D

Dave are you still going to bogie, on the long weekend. Cause I'd like to try my street bike on street tires, against your track bike on race tires with warmers. Lol. He didn't crash or cause anyone else to. That is improvement.

LOL... I guess that is a good thing ;)

Yeah, still planning for 'bogie June 30th/July 1st. Maybe you can show me a good way around the track.

What kind of speeds do you hit on a 600? What mods/gear is required? I'd love to try this sometime

Every track day provider has different requirements. GPBIKES would have it on their website, under trackdays.

I won their 50/50 draw.... I didn't dump the bike, so overall it was a good day for me. Thanks GP Bikes

I pedaled up after lunch to see the track in action for the first time.

Definitely some fast folks out there.

Looked like fun, can't wait to turn a wheel on the track someday.

I will be there, helping out 3 for sure maybe 5 riders in the green group. You're welcome to join us. :)

In intermediate group following behind some of the faster 600's I hit 137km/h. The top speed for me on my liter bike for the day was 154km/h.
Probably a lot more (200km/hr)on the straight before the front straight. Probably more on the front straight on a liter bike.

This is just judging from video and looking at the track, I haven't done it yet.

Thanks! I don't think I'll be allowed in green though. It is my first time there, so I'll have to pay the extra $30 for Pro6 help anyway. I'm sure that will be good. Maybe I can help Joe have some fun. haha...
