Got some quotes today - A bit disappointed

So reading this thread made me paranoid. So I re-called statefarm for another quote and luckily got the same result: 25 y/o male.. living in Sauga on a Ninja 250 I'll only be paying $60-$65 a month for FULL coverage (less than 800 a year for the complete year).

HOW THE HELL ARE YOU 25+ year old's PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR A NINJA 250!!!!! IT JUST DOES NOT MAKE ANY GOD DAMN SENSE!

I paid $450 a year for a ninja 250 when I was 25 with state farm

you prolly live in a farm wayyy out there man...

This is really insane.. I can't believe they can get away with this. Any recommendations of other places to try for a first-time new rider?

woodstock, as listed to the left...

and you think living in the city raises the rate 7x? lol

WTF ARE YOU GUYS ALL TALKING ABOUT???

op your rates are great...

I'm 28 , no claims, G for 4 years, M2 with RTI this year in may and my rates for ninja 250 are 3500 a year....

so yeah there you go

Oh, and I live in north york

really? do you know the meaning of shopping around?

25, ninja 250 with state farm I'm paying $400/year also in north york

the bike doesn't even cost $3500

OP, how long have you had your M2/M class license?

I've found that most companies like you to have an M class license (M1/M2?M) for at least a year before they give you the good rates.

Actually,it does make a difference....a big one at that. I got my first bike last year with liability and was quoted at just over 1500 through sf on an 02 SV650s but do to 2 accidents on file they wouldn't cover me,now I have an 08 GSX-R 750 with full coverage and am at 2400. All prices for Etobicoke, recently moved to Oakville and awaiting my new rate. 26 year old male,no tickets in over 6 yrs and no accidents in 6 yrs...

What how am I paying double what you are paying? Is this with your M1/M2/M? Also if this is what your M2+ what was it like with your M1

Thanks fellas, your quotes are giving me some hope :). I have had my M1/M2 less than a year since I got them this year. Squapple, $400/year is an amazing quote!

Really?

I'm:
28
G for about 10 years
M1
did the safety course
clean driving record
I live around High Park
No record of car or bike insurance ever

I was quoted on my '06 GS500F $1500. Best quote I got was through Rider Plus, but I'm going to check back with Jevco in spring

With SF your M license has no effect, You could have your M1 or your full M for 20 years, you are going to get the same quote.
My guess is he has a car with them as well as that knocks your bike premium down 40%.

(I pay the same as you for a 600 SS with full coverage with my car there too.)

ROFL, you've been a member of this forum for OVER a year and you still don't know how insurance works?

1) You're ineligible for State Farm with only 4 years driving experience (G class license is what matters to them only).
2) You're probably with Jevco with that rate, they go by M experience only, G doesn't matter.
3) With your M2 being under a year old you're being quoted as a first year rider (same as having an M1).
4) Should've shopped around, I'm paying under 3k for an SV650, first year riding.
5) Just because you won't take the time to educate yourself, don't go trying to tell a new rider to allow SF to give him the shaft.

I'm 26. I have my M2 with a 2012 monster 696 full coverage no tickets/accidents. In Mississauga. $169/mo. or $2028/yr. No car with state farm (They want WAY to much for cars.)

The stupid thing is if i wanted an R6 they said $125/mo or $1500/yr

State farm rates by engine size (cc's). That's why the majority of SS owners are with them. Everyone's insurance situation is different and it should be up to their broker to find them the best solution, but that still means you have to shop around until you find that right broker.

Would registering in North York (Yonge/Sheppard) be less or more expensive than registering in the Mississauga suburbs?
