Thought I would let you guys know that this can be had for a total of $230 from Amazon.ca, after the $15 discount for signing up for a credit card (I got approved and credited instantly) ... I just bought this on impulse, never really thought I needed it but after viewing this video it seems it might be useful to have as evidence in case anything shall happen.

Before any of you go and buy this be wary of the following:

- This is not being sold by Amazon, it's by some random company called BUYNSAVE
- It's just randomly $80 cheaper than competitors in the US, and $130 cheaper than Canadian retail competitors? Does that smell fishy to you?

When you get it Twitch18, I'd be interested to find out if you actually got what was advertised.

It specifically says HERO2 though, not like the "Xbox 360 box" sale on ebay a few years ago. lol.

Also edited my last post, I think Amazon covers all purchases if you don't get what you ordered, right?

[h=2]When do I use the "Order contained damaged/defective/incorrect items" reason while filing an A-to-z Guarantee claim?[/h]If a seller has clearly misrepresented the condition or details of an item in a way that affects its value or utility, it is "materially different" and that seller should be willing to offer a refund or exchange within 30 days of shipment. If the seller does not accept the return of an item that is made in accordance with the seller's return policy, you may qualify for coverage under our A-to-z Guarantee. Please visit our Return Help pages for more information regarding returns.
Items are considered "damaged/defective or incorrect" in these circumstances:

  • Wrong version or edition: You received the item ordered, but it's a different version or edition than what was displayed on product page.
  • Item condition or details not as described: You received the item ordered, but it was a different condition (e.g., used or refurbished instead of new) or had an important detail that was not explained on product page.
  • Item was completely different from what was ordered: Seller mistakenly sent completely incorrect item. (e.g., Audio CD instead of DVD)
  • Missing parts or components: The item is missing parts or components. (e.g., Camera kit was supposed to include a tripod, but it was not received.)
  • Item defective during first use: When you first tried to use the product, it did not work (e.g., television did not turn on).
  • Item defective after first use: The product did not work or was broken on second or subsequent use.
  • Damaged item: The item delivered was visibly damaged (e.g. Plastic storage you ordered had chipped pieces).
When submitting an A-to-z Guarantee claim with the reason "order contained damaged/defective/incorrect items," you will need to select one of the reasons above and provide comments explaining what happened.
Note: This does not extend to cases where you are simply disappointed with an item. We will ultimately determine material difference at our discretion.

Right, it says Hero2, but the price is suspicious. Futureshop and Bestbuy sell these for $350. Do you know what their invoice cost is? $240. This place is selling them for $40 under cost? Does that not raise flags for you?

And yes, if you get the wrong item chances are you're not screwed. It's just a hassle.

I just bought it. $244 taxes and delivery in is a great deal. I'll let you know how I made out in 4 - 10 business days :)

Thanks for the heads up, Twitch

Visa had a bunch of these awhile ago for a crazy price as well, lemme find it..

Yeah.

Was $199, not the motorsports edition I don't think, but prices have been known to be pretty cheap before.

I just ordered one also. Good looking out!

I noticed the same seller is also selling the outdoor gopro for fairly cheap. Noticed someone on RFD posted about this as well after I saw it here. They are all crossing their fingers as well hoping it wasn't a typo ;)

it's hard to say, some people were getting them the other day, and when I went to grab one, the buy n save seller seemed to be out of stock, so the price was back up. couple days later (yesterday) i noticed buy n save had them on for 219 again. either way, it's win win, if they actually ship you get a cheap gopro, if they don't well, at least you'll get your money back seeing as it's amazon that you've purchased it through and not some shady ebay seller.

I'm not too worried about the legitimacy of the seller.. amazon will have your back. Although this is a steal compared to the retail price though, I still think it's a little high.. I'd like one, but I don't see what makes a gopro worth more then about 150 bucks..

At $150 nobody would be able to keep them in stock LOL

but in all fairness, they put a ton of R&D into these things to make them as sturdy as they are, to get awesome picture quality, and keep it relatively compact all at the same time. They became the defacto standard in small handheld video cameras practically overnight. My only complaint is that the wifi features aren't built in to the hero2, it would be awesome to just connect to my phone for playback and viewfinder duties without adding another $100 option.

or it would be nice if the $100 add on for iphone/android actually worked.
thus far no app released just 'coming soon'.
I've been debating on the gopro or the drfit HD. couple youtube reviews of the drift show the colours are more true to life, but the gopro has finer detail, so it's a toss up. it was an easy call for a $200 drift 720 but now with the go pro at 219..

damn you OP. damn you.

Decisions been made for you, the GoPro is no longer for sale at $219.

On the other hand, JVC and Sony are releasing their own versions this year. The JVC looks particularly interesting with a built in LCD (GoPro needs LCD backpack), built in WiFi (GoPro needs WiFi backpack), and iPhone/Android app at launch, can stream to USTREAM without a PC (I assume you could setup your iPhone as a WiFi hotspot in your pocket, connect the camera to it and stream your rides live

Even if JVC's new camera sucks (its name sure does -- Adixxion), competition is good, will drive prices down and quality up.
