Google Auto Insurance

Can you dig up some numbers? Looking for % surcharge for location ....

You will be hard-pressed to find any data concerning the insurance industry that isn't provided by The Insurance Bureau of Canada, which of course is an association/lobby group supporting the initiatives of Canadian insurance companies.

I contacted one of the travel insurance lobby groups regarding some stats they gave the media. They told they made up the numbers.

My wife pushed an adjuster for some numbers and he basically told her that they had numbers but there was no way they would be given to the public. That makes sense as it is part of their business financials and it would be of use to the competition.

Everyone talks about insurance as a scam.
Let's show the proof as where the scam is.

I've said my bit to you before. Same bike. Same perfect record. Same 37 years old. Ontario I live in a town of not even 10k. Moving to a city in alberta of 1 million. Same coverage and even same insurance company. Less than half the price. So more people means more risk yet cheap insurance. No scam in Ontario at all.

You are in a high risk province with the highest costs for claims. You are in a pool of those people. If you lived alone on a mountain and rode around in a circle alone you would still be rated as if you are part of that pool. It's not all calculated on your age , bike or record it also has to be calculated on the rest of the people in the pool and how much the pool needs to pay your claims and theirs. Go on FSCO website. Do some reading about rating and Insurance and stop thinking it's only about you and your perfect record. If it was ,your Insurance would go down every year until it was free and that is just not possible

Read my post about the double and triple dipping on accident benefits. Logically explain why it can't be changed without the paperwork excuse.

I don't expect free or anything ridiculous. I expect fair which isn't an option here. So If it's my pool then why if I move to brampton for example would I pay even more? The excuse I was given is more people higher risk etc. There is no reason why I can get insurance in another province or not, with a population that big by the same company for almost 1/3 the price. I get more claims here blah blah blah because onterrible is the toilet bowl of the fantastic country but that's just more excuses. I pay more on one motorcycle now than I paid for 3 cars and a bike at age 20. That's ****** up no matter how you slice it.

17 years ago you didn't have accident benefits which is a huge part of your policy first off. Look it up. Adjust the price you paid at 20 for inflation, add accident benefits and you are probably paying the same or less.
claims are also much larger now than back then, look it up.
Besides computers what is cheaper now than 17 years ago??
You pay more in Brampton because it's a higher risk area you pay less in other places, but the base premium they need from you has to be what it is no matter where you live in ontario.

They also buy super low liabilty rates in the states don't have accident benefits and declare bankruptcy when they get sued.

Except that liability rates are FAR from the largest part of your premium. Accident benefits; private health insurance for you the driver and your occupants. AKA: The hidden costs of 'universal' healthcare.

Perhaps you missed it. I pay more for one bike right now alone than I paid for 3 cars and a bike. I get what you're saying and yes times change etc but there's no reasonable explanation for that. It's wrong no matter how you slice it.

Well I think your memory is fuzzy . Or just wrong.

Oh please

Another insightful comment from the insurance reps.

It seems we have no common ground. I am dealing with one very obvious fault in the system where the insurance companies take advantage of riders.

If we expand the scam conversation one of the most common scams mentioned on this site is the newbie question about putting their R bike in their fathers name to get cheaper insurance or a similar variation. Dad is an arthritic 60 year old.

There are problems both sides of the fence but I don't see the insurance companies wanting to fix anything on their side. I don't see the government or insurance industries doing anything effective to combat the fraud. I admit there are problems with some riders.

I ask a simple question about a rider with multiple bikes paying triple for coverage he/she can not use in the way of accident benefits. All the insurance industry comes back with is cynical remarks.

Do you honestly feel it is fair that a rider pays $2500 to $3000 for $50K in accident benefits when he is the only rider of three bikes. That is a yes/no question.

That's racist....... Bro!
