Good poutine?

Screw jack astors, they asked me once if I wanted to upgrade my fries to a poutine. So I asked if they used cheese curds, or just shredded cheese. Of course the answer, sorry, no we don't use cheese curds. Lol, it's not a poutine without cheese curds.

Call me crazy, but unless I make it myself, I've always liked burger king (I really don't feel right saying that though). Of course my wife swears by Sonnys, but I'm. It a fan of that place to be honest.

I make mine with homemade fries, but clubhouse gravy and store bought curds (I haven't started making cheese yet). Oh, there's a place downtown (brampton) called Poutine, but I haven't been there yet.

I agree with this entire post. I was too embarrassed to say BK as well lol

There's a trailer off Trafalgar and 10 Sideroad. Get your poutine and newfie fries there. Just a suggestion, get a medium only....the large portions are HUGE. If you don't know what newfie fries are try them. (fries, gravy, ground beef and onions).

This place is wicked, only been to the one in london though. So many different kinds of poutine.

Being from Québec, I just shake my head at the "different kinds of poutines" that some places seem to be experimenting with. The sad part is that some places back home also do this now.

The secret behind a poutine is having the right gravy and the right fries.
Then the cheese has to be authentic cheese curds or thickly shaved mozza (which then melts with the hot gravy).

Whoever had the idea of adding chicken, hot dogs, blablabla, is a quack.

duck confit! montreal smoked meat!

you can't go wrong adding either one of those two toppings :P

Montreal Smoked Meat only belongs between two pieces of rye with lots of mustard on it!

I would've agreed with you a while ago but I had some smoke meat poutine in Ottawa and it was fantastic. It's good drunk food.

What you eat while drunk is an entirely different thread!

I wonder how onion ring poutine would be like? Super awesome?

I dunno man...onion rings are at their best when they're super crispy and not too greasy.

Edit: I"m getting hungry....goddamn you all!

I love poutine, but 99% of places disappoint me. Costco is my favorite.

costco is passable, imho. the fries completely ruin it. . .too processed

i've had chez ashton, la banquise, and la belle province, but the best i've ever had was in a nameless truck stop about an hour from the quebec-ontario border.

...I think I just put on 10lbs by reading this thread...there goes my girlish figure.

I saw the various kinds of poutine in montreal when i lived in quebec about 15 years ago before you really could get poutine in ontario. the most popular variations were the montreal smoked meat and the italiane. no self respecting poutine would have mozza, it's far too old, squeaky curds only...

You can get it at Enfield Fox and Fiddle. It's...disappointing.

I don't see the big deal? Poutine is nothing I would go out of my way for(maybe I haven't been to the right places).

That being said best I've tried is a smoked meat Poutine @ caplansky's deli on college st. Their smoked meat and corned beef is worth the trip and I'll top it off with the Poutine!

Hmm. If you google them you see more complaints than compliments. Maybe it's easier to complain. Kardish in Ottawa was good but haven't been in years.

There is a fry truck at the back of a used car lot in smiths falls, probably the best I've had. Fresh cut fries, local cheese curds and good gravy and a pogo dog on the side
