Good ol' USA

Trespasser.... intruder.... big difference.

If the "chomping" is happening right outside mine or another family member's bedroom door.... then yes.
My dogs aren't going to kill anyone, probably couldn't cause any real damage... A foot high and 35 lbs.... but can be very aggresive.... The dogs are not meant to defend.... just warn.... I would like them to bark and run... but I know they wouldn't.

I'd also be concerned for your dogs afterwards too. Aside from the fact they just used someone as a chew toy. You now have to fight the local by-law officers NOT to put down your dog. If I'm not mistaken, the dogs get put down in fatal mualing cases or in the event of grevious harm. Something about dogs having the taste for human blood.

If they bite an intruder to the home, there is exemption under the law, as the dog is defending it's property. The situation is different if it is an invited guest, etc, as the owner should know better to control the dog at that time.

So when your dog is chowing down on the throat of some potential disoriented trespasser, you figure the greatest risk is to... your family. Is that what you're saying?

once they cross the threshhold and enter the house they go from being a trespasser to an intruder, one doesn't enter my house by accident.

you won't get a second step onto my property without a dog going off...

He did say his property.

Anyways, I entered another person's place by accident once. I was young and unfamiliar with the area. I sure hope if the owner had a dog who then mauled me, that he would have run to the aid of his poor family in case any of them were suffering at the sight of this dumb kid's death.

Mauling... death...!?
I have a Jack Russel and Corgi.... I think they'll survive the dog attack.

I have a 74lb lab. I'd be more worried about the intruder keeling over dead from laughing too hard. My dog tends to give these really dumb looks to people. As long as you pet him and feed him treats, you're golden (lab, ba-dum dum)

One has to wonder though; dogs can read emotions. (More precisely yours as their pack leader). So, should you confront your ill-fated foe in a non-friendly manner, would your dogs turn on that person? It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

Luckily my dog has never displayed aggression toward any one person. Sometimes I wonder just what would happen, I know dogs can be feircely protective of their "pack"
