Good news.... I'm not hearing much about pro Hamas protests today.
Linking to that...

A half sister flew in yesterday from New Zealand and I got to meet her for the first time. Until five years ago I didn't know what happened to my father after my parents marriage broke up, except that he moved to New Zealand.

He passed away before the discovery but I've since connected with a half sister and four half brothers, all great people.

My sincere thank you to Air Canada for not losing her or her luggage. We visited with her for a few hours before I drove her downtown to her hotel. She wants to experience downtown Toronto before staying with us for a few days.

I took her along the Gardiner to show her what masses of Canadian car brake lights look like when on full time. Then up Spadina and through Chinatown where the TTC had to put in curbs to keep cars from crashing into the streetcars. Past Kensington Market and then east on College past protests, mad cyclists, errant wandering pedestrians, traffic jams with background music from car horns when I didn't move ahead three feet when there was three feet between me and the car in front of me.

I was to busy watching out for lunatics to see who was protesting and closing streets, Bay Street I think.

Apparently there's a lady that puts on a raincoat and goes to Queen's Park every day to feed pigeons, letting them crap all over her. The epitome of being Canadian.

I don't know if this counts as news, but at least it's good:

"A old friend of mine from Oshawa went for a fall colours ride Monday up to Halliburton... One of his buddy’s hit the soft shoulder & went for a tumble...
Police showed up & made sure he was ok , then they helped him fix his bike so he could ride home...👌"

My parents broke up when I was in diapers and my father moved to New Zealand, never to be heard from again. Just before Covid I found out I had a bunch of half siblings there.

Last week I met my half sister and over a couple bottles of red wine some fantastic stories came out. Life is good and my dad did some awesome stuff.
