Good news thread

I made a new thread about trump so Macdocs thread can remain happy and apolitical. Future discussion on this goes in the new thread.

Fading memories of those still alive from D-Day. Unusual look at Canadian centric footage and interviews from those that were there. Stuff I've never seen
Using newly restored and rarely-seen footage from the CBC archives, The National takes you back to D-Day, revealing the dramatic timeline of events in a moment when the fate of the free world hung in the balance.

Normally someones demise wouldn't be good news but I'm happy that my tax dollars will no longer be contributing to this guys existence.
The only loss is from not being able to dissect his brain while he was alive to see if it could be rewired.

Continuing D-Day stories ...like this(y)

What really happened inside the first house liberated on D-Day

Even after all these years, Canadians still show up on Juno Beach's shores with new stories about what happened inside Canada House on D-Day. The National’s Adrienne Arsenault goes inside the famous building to learn more about its history and the secrets hidden within its walls.

Americas Got Talent moment...you work as a janitor for 23 years, had never been on a plane ....and pulls this off.....(y)

I can't stand that show, seems so phony.
That being said I watched this clip on YT and was moved by just how humble yet talented that guy was.
Hopefully this is the start to something bigger and better for him.
What a talent!

I don't follow the show any more but when the occasional jaw dropper surfaces, Susan Boyle for instance, I enjoy it.

There's more to the background. Don't get me wrong as I like his win but this wasn't his first rodeo. The earlier ones were obviously many times smaller but some people get the impression Goodall never sang outside of his bedroom.

That was the same situation with Paul Potts....but the show was his big break. The judges reactions priceless.

I don't know what happened to Ziggy, a guy I worked with 50 plus years ago. He would have been 60 ish at the time and could go toe to toe with Potts. He was a warehouse worker, did small deliveries and mixed paints.

Suddenly he would break out in song, Man of LaMancha etc and he was good. Apparently he was accepted at U of T on a music scholarship but turfed out when they discovered fabrications in his resume.
