Getting stuck behind a Harleytrain

This hasnt happened to me much where I ride. In niagarawe dont have alot of big groups riding around, at least I don't come across them. So Ive never really been in a situation where I needed to pass 10+ people.
The closest Ive came would be needing to pass maybe 5 or 6 cruiser riders. And even then Ill try to be as respectful as possible and hold way back until I have lots of room to pass.

Yesterday when I was riding there was a guy in a harley riding so far on the right side of the road I thought he was an ebike at first. I slowed down for him but he waved me thru. Maybe he was learning to ride or had mechanical problems or something

Was this the patch you saw?

Could have been, but seriously, I couldn't imagine spending upwards of 30k on a bike, only to get passed by a girl on a $3000 CBR 250.

Just signal & pass. I don't see how people should be offended

"Me first"

No, I'm happy to let anyone who wants to go faster than me get by. Riding/driving would be much simpler if everyone adopted that attitude. Or did I miss understand? Are you saying riding in a big group at less than the posted limit shows a "me first, s***w the rest of you" attitude?

I find being respectful and decent gets you what you need most of the time. I have no trouble passing anyone that I have encountered on my bike. Most of the time I see them move over slightly and wave us through when its clear. If you want to go slow and enjoy the scenery, I won't bash you for it. I do that sometimes.. :D

I guess if you have a smaller engine you might have trouble passing several people. I can see how a 250 would have issues passing a large group of vehicles.

I don't like breaking into a group, it's poor form. Passing the entire group in one shot without getting into 172 territory isn't easy. If people want to go below the speed limit when not warranted by road conditions, they should be required to pull over every 5 km and let people pass, obviously if you don't want to go the speed limit, you aren't in a hurry to get anywhere anyway.

I think what they meant, and what I see a lot of on the roads, is that if you're behind someone, as soon as you signal to pass you'll find them speeding up. Not sure why people do this.

Similarly, even with lots of space, some people will speed up when someone L/R of them wants to merge in front.

In Australia, they will actively ticket you if you are travelling too slow, especially on the highway. Its a big issue apparently. ( see https://www.google.com/webhp?source...pv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=slow vehicle ticket australia)

BTW, In NZ, if you are driving along the road, and have more than 5 cars behind you, you are obliged to pull over and let them pass. You can get ticketed for impeding the flow of traffic. Its easy to spot the tourists when in NZ.

ps - and dont forget, as long as you're not the driver, take some beers along for the drive. Its not illegal for passengers to drink in the vehicle. (Why would it be?..)

You'd be surprised. I'm moderately offended just from reading this thread.
I blow by a corolla on Old Finch this weekend. He was 20 below limit. He probably thought a rocket flew by.

I like that kind of regulation

Because the driver could be sharing a beer with one of them, and then deny it?

I'll be the first to admit I have no desire to ride fast. If I see a faster bike on a one lane road coming up behind me, I have no problem waving them through. Slow and steady wins the race. I should get one of those turtle patches.

I had a similar experience with another rider who was with me on gsxr600.

We were going up mount mitchell road off the blue ridge and we both passed about 10 of them going real slow up the road. When we got the to the top my buddy had to hold me back as they tried to run us off for passing them.

Fuggin Harley riders should stay in Sturgis on straight roads only.

People with small gas tanks, in a hurry to get somewhere, should stay on the straight roads with lots of gas stations along the way.

Me if I have a time limit, and need to take the shortest route then I take the car.

If I'm out riding, then I can simply turn, and find a longer route. Instead of continuing on the 508, I'll turn onto the 511. There's an issue on the number 7, just turn up the 509.

So fall back, make a lightening pass on the right and hit their kill switch on the way by.

This has me thinking about the only slow ride to Port Dover this year.

The slow trek to a small town where nothing happens.

Yeah, this.

Getting all butthurt at other riders just because they're not riding to your own standards, requirements, or expectations is ridiculous - I'm sure at some point in every riders past they've ****** off other motorists or riders.

Maybe there was a new rider at the front of that group out on their first ever ride in a group environment and the rest of the riders were letting them set a pace they felt safe and comfortable with? Maybe the road captain's speedo is reading fast.

Sure, if they're consistently under the speed limit, pass em when you can, or as someone else suggested, pull over and take a break, chill a little, and continue on...or take a different route... chances are they'll be out of your way.

This is just another childish sportbike vs cruiser pissing match, nothing more.
