Getting smoke smell out of a car?

Not to be preachy.. :-) but they had this show on tv about the top 10 leading causes of death..and smoking was number 2 or 1..can't remember..but the medical examiner they had doing the show said "As soon as I cut into a smoker, I can tell..the tissues are grey, the lungs are black, they have a distinct odour, they're much older than their age would indicate.." It was kind of an unfeeling, arms-length assessment..if it doesn't make you stop and think, well..

Didnt mean this thread to be about smokers, but I really dont understand how people can do it knowing its gonna kill them one way or another down the road. Not a possibility.... it will!
Its probably the most nasty habit ever! Its easy to quit, you just have to have a lil discipline and be able to get over that initial week or two when you quit then its all gravy!

I smoked two packs a day for 20 years and last october 12 I quit cold turkey.

I never once preached to smokers, and not once complained about foul smells and such.

I think all the people who complain are doing it for attention. Just before I started smoking, I remember being able to smoke just about anywhere (like school classrooms) and people complained less. When it became socially uncool to smoke everyone jumped on the "eeeew you smoke" bandwagon.

Don't get me wrong... I agree about the health issues it causes, and that it is a leading cause of death, but so is over eating. Only thing is that it's not socially acceptable to be anti fat people like it is to be anti smokers.

Ajaxguy I kind of agree with you. You need more than a "lil dicipline"... quite a bit more. Not so easy as you think for the average person.

Most of these "preachers" have never been smokers also, which makes it kind of funny.... it's like getting riding tips from someone who's never been on a motorcycle before...So there is no arguing with them...not when someone feels so passionate about something they have no clue about... I mean c'mon, It really stinks that bad out in the sidewalk that people passing by had to complain????

Anyhow, this was not the topic. Sorry OP.

I use to smoke in the car. I usually get my car interior detailed once or twice a year. Ive done it twice since I quit and the smell is about 95% gone. That would be my suggestion.

I fart in the elevator and to this day, people STILL complain!! Whiners.. :-)

I see many fools smoking in high-end S550s A8s and 7 series. Cannot imagine what they lose when they trade or at lease end.

Why would they care, when they can afford those cars in the first place?lol

I started when I was 16.... does a 16 year old know about how bad it really is? Oh and smoking might kill you, not it will kill you. Not all smokers will get cancer and die.

If it was easy to quit than I would have quit by now. I quit for two years, started again for a year, quit for a year then started for an other year then started up again this spring and trying to quit again now.

The polution coming from living in a city(buildings and vehicles) is far worse than an individual smoking anyways.

riiight...keep telling that to yourself...whatever makes you sleep at night.

It's not just cancer... there's other things, various respiratory conditions...

and at 16 I knew full well the dangers of smoking. hell I knew @ 11 (yay for paying attention during health).

What Raf is saying is:

1) There are many other things that can kill you before getting complications from smoking. Pretty much all my older relatives have smoked all their life and they're in their 80's and their health issues are for the most part not smoking related.

2) In the summer when they warn you to not exercise outside because of the bad air quality that can kill you (in the same day - not 50 years from now) - that's because of the lawnmowers, cars, A/C etc. So those things are obviously more hazardous.

P.S. I'm not a smoker
