Getting old sucks...

Agree with you about Hoss and Barb being huge.

I sleep with a cpap machine. At 172 lbs.

Don't need to be a blimp on a fast food diet.

If you sleep like ****, get tested for sleep apnea.

I sleep like **** because of my bladder and took a Cpap test. It seems that sleeping on a hide-a-bed in a strange office with people running around while I'm hooked up to a ton of electronics that had to be disconnected when the pee urge came resulted in a computer saying I didn't sleep well.

It could have been worse. They could have put me in a sleeping bag in the parking lot with pylons around me to prevent a SUV from doing a hit and run.

Seriously though, there have been massive physical changes to our evolution over the last century and apnea could be a result. Obesity is a factor in a ton of conditions but otherwise healthy people can suffer as well. We aren't selectively bred like race horses, with blood lines going back centuries.

I accept a pause in breathing as God giving me a review as he decides whether to hit the restart button again. So far, so good.

If I take another test it will be an in home one that is less intrusive. A secret video recording will show if my wife occasionally puts a pillow over my face.

With poor financial planning you can still gain access to legacy levels of money for your kids as long as you can access a little money and survive two years. Big term life insurance policy (expensive but you only need to make two or maybe three payments on it) and take yourself out after policy has been in force for two years. Not the path most would choose but financially, that is the easiest way for most people to add a large amount to family net worth.
In a discussion with a psychiatrist he mentioned that a large percentage of people that attempted suicide but failed, regretted the decision the minute they jumped in front of the bus. It can be reasoned that the successful ones had the same reaction.

While the intent of the life insurance may be to cash in for the family the wait could give the person time to think and fix the real problem.

Another odd thing that came out of the conversation was that when a troubled person decides to do themselves in, they often become happy as they know that their troubles will be over in a given time.:(

Interesting and I’ve heard that before. I’ve never considering going to a psychiatrist or psychologist (whatever the difference is) but I’d be lying if I said I have been more stressed lately than the last decade.

Could be the 3 kids, Reno, increasing mortgage payments while paying the house DOWN, and overall life doesn’t take its toll on one’s sanity.

Stress comes from many sources and triggers , do not be shy about seeking help . The cemeteries are full of manly men.
My wife is on Kookoo pills ( I’m not allowed to call them that) but it was that or a divorce. Depression runs in her family.
The ones that try suicide and don’t succeed are often not really wanting to go . When you meet someone that’s ready to go , little will stop them. Wife did paediatric psych for years . Yes I see the irony.

I know a handful that couldn't handle life. I'm nowhere near that, but the stress is getting to me (could explain the delicious food intake).

Alright enough sharing for now.

Basically a psychologist can't prescribe drugs. If you want happy juice it has to be a psychiatrist.

If your condition is based on a hormone imbalance and correction needs a pill you need a psychiatrist. If the problem can be talked out, either will probably work.

There are mixed opinions on inheriting a condition and a lot depends on the trauma / support one experiences. Completely sane people are scary. No one is that good so they must be hiding something.

Sorry to hear @mimico_polak.

Just watched a good video on happiness:

TLDW: Top things that contribute to happiness:

- good face-to-face social relationships with friends and family
- good diet, exercise and sleep schedule

Also... motorcycles.

Its crazy what happens to the mind when the riding stops. The worst part of canada imo. Late October my mental health goes to the crapper.

I find going to bed early really helps with stress and mental wellbeing in general, I've also started taking up more winter hobbies to keep me busy/distracted and to cope.

Everyone copes differently, I do three spin classes a week, ski when the snow hits, shoot clay targets wed mornings , and I’m learning fly tying ( I don’t fish much at all but I like the patterns ) and I’m learning leather tooling again, I did leather carving 30yrs ago . A busy mind is a happier mind , I don’t sit around well.

That’s what CBD oil is for.
A small drop under the tongue a few hours before bedtime and no issues falling back to sleep.

I use the Soleil “Free” oil which has no THC.
My issue with trying anything is I'm afraid I'll get reliant on it and then when it's not available for whatever reason, I'm useless without it.

Whenever I need a good nights sleep to catch up, a half a Gravol does the trick but again, using it sparingly (I guess the CBD will work that way too).

Sell one of the streetbikes, and buy a proper dirtbike.

It'll really extend your season.

I'll ride trails when its snowing. Obviously not in the dead of winter, but it keeps me going until December.

Or stud up, and run on ice. The 2nd pic isn't me. My cousin and his buddy were ice racing.

@matt365 is on the money. It doesn't even have to be a great bike. I'm hoping to flog this at Rice Lake this winter.
(It sits by the wall for years and doesn't leak a drop, I drag it out to fit a battery and it leaks?)

That looks like a good way to store bungee cords.

You've got a lot of cool bikes in your collection. If it wasn't for R1Timmay proving that we have bad people among us, it would be fun to tour some of the awesome collections members have. For obvious reasons, if I was a member with an awesome collection, I wouldn't want a bunch of semi-random people knowing what I have and where it is.

As was noted with MP considering ending his motorcycle riding; full time work + being a modern father to small children doesn't leave much time for hobbies. I had a couple buddies over in the summer and both had their wives out of town for multi day work trips while they were working full time and managing the house and kids. I'm sure his mind is plenty busy.

Dads these days are involved way more then previous generations and as much as I love spending time with my kids and get along just fine (easier?) when my wife is not around, I don't know if our hunter/protector/ruler minds have evolved to except the current level of caregiverness that is expected. I just bought a bass guitar the other day to learn between 9:30 and 10pm each night as that is my only me time and by that time I have no energy to wrench on a bike or work on the house.

I recognize that in a few years they won't need or want to spend time with me so I strap in for another episode of Bluey and eat some chocolate.

Values have changed at an unheard of rate in social acceptance, making parenting difficult.

Marilyn Monroe was the epitome of female beauty 60 years ago but now.... "Elizabeth Hurley once infamously said “I’ve always thought Marilyn Monroe looked fabulous, but I’d kill myself if I was that fat.”

That isn't evolution, it's body engineering. Tell that to your kid who feels left out because they don't look like a super model.

Influencers, followers and the associated hen pecking crap because you don't wear the latest fad?

"Cool" is looking like a slut or pimp?

In the 1960's I found out a girl I knew, knew someone that had a friend who had a boyfriend that was on drugs. Four degrees of separation. Now you're sheltered if it's two degrees. It was a big deal if your parents caught you smoking a cigarette.

I'm not saying everything back then was sunshine and roses but the present "Woke" crap is hard to deal with. There seems to be an industry determined to screw people's heads up.

Having a motorcycle can counter some of the above. Drop your kid off at school on your R-1, do a burn out, pop a wheelie and disappear.
