Getting old sucks...

I’m convinced Guinness is a superfood. No fancy nutritionist is going to change my mind.
I don’t mind it, but don’t love it.

Kinda the burnt toast of beers.

I'm at that awkward age where I know whats going to trigger my shitter , but it doesnt happen every time , so I go ahead and try it. It will be the most in-opportune time when it kicks in. Usually a 400 series highway , in the daylight...
Don’t have that problem. Mine is I better be near a shitter at exactly 0845 EST every day.

There’s a reason I keep a roll of toilet paper in the car and bike carrying case….which reminds me the GTI doesn’t have it yet.

Call me lucky. Yes, I know I am. Retired about 10 years ago after 45 years of heavy manual labour. Still continue to do things I was doing in my 30's & 40's. Eat whatever & whenever I like. No complaints from my body yet. Although I did struggle to get into my kayak last summer, canoe was much easier.
73 btw and loving life.

Glad to hear.
I wonder if the quality of food back when you were in your 20's-40's has anything to do with this?

I got some guesses at the recovery institute as low as 52 but always was baby faced.

At 76 aches and pains rarely disappear but Celebrex is wonder drug for me.
Robaxin - METHOCARBAMOL, I use sparingly but it works well for tight muscle soreness.

I was curious after the accident how my recovery would progress and pleasantly surprised how well I healed up .....sometime daily progress.
My dad made 95 still active and driving.

Ozempic has knocked 19kg of my weight and improved my diet which never was bad tho an occasional foray to Hungry Jacks for a Wopper is a treat.
Otherwise partner has gone almost entirely veg so I benefit there. It's carnivore night for me every Thursday with roast of the day, gravy, mashed and veg.
Beans I find are excellent for digestion and oats keep blood sugar down tho with Ozempic that's less of an issue and my hangry headaches are gone.
I do need Panadol 3 x a day ( 2 x 500mg which is an arthritis dose) as a maintenance base or the aches get much achier.

So far teeth are hanging in but hearing is on its way out....not looking forward to that.
Most men ( 80% ) will suffer from prostate problems as they approach 80  and better dealt with sooner than later.
And yes a motorcycle drops 20 years off my age every time I ride 🏍️

Think about a glucosimine suppliment , did wonders for my joint aches . And sugars ( fuckineverywhere) and carbs , so tasty but they become sugars. Then stretch . Getting old is way better than the alternative.
To a degree you can pick how old will look, genetics is a play, but not doing the basics make being a weekend warrior hard.
Nailed it. Glucosimine is a wonder drug for old joints. A short morning exercise routine with crunches does not stop my back from going out but recovery time is a couple days instead of a week when it does. And the CC is right about the only alternative to getting older.

Re: The supplements, my issue is tendonitis on both elbows (1 inner, 1 outer). Do any of those help with that?

A few sessions already at the physiotherapist and no progress but more pain so I think I'm cutting my losses after tomorrows appt..

I have chronic tendinitis in my elbows, also things like chronic shinsplints. Knee issues and reoccurring frozen shoulders (which caused the before mentioned elbow issues). All are previous sports injuries.

While it does not solve everything completely I do believe the anti-inflammatory aspects of turmeric helps me for all the above. Other diet and exercise also helps.

Imo physio by itself isnt really effective. The exercises and routines they give you, you can add resistance/weights to them, and THEN they become effective.(using resistance bands or very light weights etc)

But that's just it ... for me it's the exercising at the gym that's giving me the tendonitis. I was cured on both elbows for the first time in several years then decided to up the weight on curls and bam, back again. Although the lighter band stuff may be effective??

I'm adjusting my workouts to be less weight and more reps as my body can't take it like it used to.

I dont know what your workouts are like, but I can make suggestions, have a real solid warm up/easy set if you dont already, give your body more time to heal between workouts, if the extra weight caused problems then as you said, focus on consistency over intensity or higher weights.

Maybe try finding a different activity that works the same muscles, but in a different way(allowing you to strengthen other possible surrounding tendons etc, and letting that area heal if your overtraining)?
