Getting old sucks...

Low carb diets are well known to reduce inflammation etc. They were controversial decades ago but there is enough data now to know that it is not a bad thing when done correctly (ie not the 100% bacon diet). I was doing it back in the early 2000s and most friends kept telling me how bad it was and you, need to eat the food triangle, blah, blah.... Now most of them are on some sort or carb reduced diets... Same with intermittent fasting.

As for Stevia, I know for myself it causes significant tingling in my hands. If I have a little amount one off I am OK but if I have a little each day for a few days then I start to have the problem. No reaction to Splenda or Aspartame for me (not that they are good for you either).

When I was doing my "Nazi anti-sugar", I made peanut butter balls using stevia. They came out tasting okay, but the sweetener didn't react the same as refined sugar, so the peanut butter mix was too soft. My solution; I added flour. That turned out to be a big mistake. After eating a couple I had bad stomach pains. After some research I found out it's not safe to eat raw flour. It's supposed to be cooked in something.
Being stubborn, and in love with peanut butter balls, I restricted myself to one per sitting. It still caused a slight discomfort in my belly, but I ate them all. Haha
Point is, although I drank my coffee black, I used stevia a lot and did not get the aches and pains caused by sugar and carbs. I'd actually make Kool-Aid using the non-sweetened pouches and 8 teaspoons of stevia rather than drink ultra-sweet apple juice, cranberry juice, grape juice, etc..

Quick tip: Your body burns fat and glucose for energy. Glucose is MUCH easier for your body to burn. When you eat carbs, your body converts that to glucose (at about a 1:1 ratio I believe, not 100% sure). That's why carbs are bad. We all have excess fat on our bodies because when we eat, we take in sugar, fat, and carbs. The body burns the sugar, then the carbs as glucose, and stores the fat for later use. "Later use" never comes because we eat more sugar and/or carbs, and store more fat. See the trend?
When you go a length of time without eating, let's say over night, you feel hungry. This hunger is the body telling you to eat sugar or carbs so it can get easy energy rather than burn fat. If you ignore this for 15 minutes, it goes away, because your body has now switched to burning fat. About an hour later your body will try again to get you to eat. Ignore it and it'll go back to burning fat. This is what happens when you fast, and why you drop weight so much faster when fasting. It's not just calorie restriction, it's forcing your body to burn fat.
The keto diet (which I don't do, too picky) uses a similar effect. Cut sugar and carbs so even when not fasting your body only has fat to burn. Your body becomes a fat burning machine, which they call ketosis.
*Not mentioned is the burning of protein. My research never reached that point, but I believe a small amount of protein is used in burning the fat or glucose, and it can be burn if fat or carbs are not available. Not sure.
Based on this info, imagine how bad ice cream. And my favourite desert is a root beer float! lol
This is only partial info. Drastically lower your carbs and your body will burn a lot of muscle if you don't change all your macros. Your protein and fat intake goes up dramatically in the keto diet otherwise you just eat off all your muscle as well as kill off your metabolism and then you're left with a lower metabolism and less muscle to burn calories (ie. your worse off than when you started). Don't get your macros right and then ignoring your hunger will compound the problem.
If you want to lose weight or gain muscle or whatever and it involves changing your diet just do your research (thoroughly) is all I'm saying.

Apologies if I misread this, but you seem to imply I was not thorough in my research. I assure you I was very thorough, and researched over several years. Is your belief that if you don't know everything, you may as well know nothing? I suppose there's an argument to be made for that, but I don't agree.

Everything I wrote about glucose and carbs is true. Also, cutting sugar and carbs does not mean your protein intake is zero, or even low. Same goes for fasting. Fasting doesn't mean you never eat. It also doesn't mean you eat little. Many people fast 22 hours, but eat a big meal when they break their fast. What I'm saying is that what I wrote is accurate and very useful information that I hope can really help anyone interested, not that it's complete. However, you are correct that further knowledge of the protein side would be very helpful. I may look into that in the future, but I have a lot on my plate at the moment.

Regarding metabolism, Dr. Rhonda Patrick explains that for a healthy metabolism you should fast for a minimum of 12 hours. Studies, according to her, show that 12 hours is required for digestive and liver enzymes to regenerate. If your concern is metabolism, for this kind of fasting you can have only water for that 12 hour fast. If you are fasting for physical health, weight loss and/or calorie restriction, you can drink black coffee or tea during your fast. This is why there's controversy over whether you can drink coffee, or only water while fasting.

This might be interesting to some of you (but not to me). I overheard a bit when my wife was watching it:

I just peaked into this. The test went for 8 weeks only, yet they claim the vegan diet lead to that twin being biologically younger. When you have people that are vegan for decades, but seem to age the same as anyone else, and have no super-powers, how can they claim that after just 8 weeks there is a measurable difference in biological age? I call B.S.. Sounds like it's funded by the anti-cow fart group. lol
How interesting would this be over a lifetime, though, in a completely non-bias study?

FWIW cranberry juice is almost impossible to drink. It makes lemon juice taste mild. Cranberry cocktail is a blend of other sweeter juices.

I try to eat things that taste like they were grown. I drink black coffee after spending time finding one that I like without additives (Cream & Sugar) Fruit should taste like the fruit, not jam. A pinch to liberate the flavour is OK but I don't need a half cup of sugar in a bowl of berries.

I find all the low cal sweeteners taste like anus I have never found one that didn't make things taste bad.

Stevia is disgusting. At least to me. I did read some people are particularly sensitive to it and I can taste that and aspartame/sucralose/sorbitol in anything. I just look for raw cane sugar in things if I need a sweetener. High fructose corn syrup would be a big no-no.

Try diluting you Cranberry juice with vodka and a few rocks.

No longer impossible.

Cottage country jams and pies are my go to for these. Little road side shops are my ‘jam’.

It seems taste buds vary a lot.
I started using stevia as an alternative after little research. My sister suggested monk fruit sugar in stead, claiming it didn't have that bad after taste, but was just as sweet.
My experience is that stevia doesn't have an after-taste, and while both are supposed to have a 1:1 sweetness ratio with sugar, I find stevia is twice as sweet as refined sugar, while monk fruit is half as sweet. Stevia dissolves much better, too.

Aspartame, on the other hand, has a very strong and bad after-taste for me. I avoid that.

Note: Aspartame is also very bad if you are pregnant. I read that it somehow eats calories so it can have a negative calories effect. Obviously, pregnant woman need all the energy they can get for the healthy development of a baby.

Even this is a little high, I imagine a chair would be worse. Drawer has a ratchet, set of 3/8's sockets, some screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, etc. so most jobs can get done without going to big tool box. Speeds things up.
The circle of life. I had my rotting tree cut down and saved $1,000 by letting them leave the wood. My neighbour wanted the wood and since he was busy I split it for him and threw it over the fence.
He didn't have to but he put some $20's in an envelope and put them in my mail slot. I took them to Costco and bought the seat.

It rolls easier than the steno chair and is more comfy.

Whenever you buy something on wheels check the thing out under load. Crappy casters are a PITA and you're always fighting them.

Should have done more than just "peak". If you watched to the end they explain how the telemeres were actually lengthened - which nearly akin to anti-aging.
