Generators

I call BS on this one. Honda's been designing and making generators "in house" before most people on this forum were born.

They were the first-in-class to design and mass market a portable inverter generator in 1989 and have been going strong ever since. They don't need no sub manufacturer to marry their engine to the rest of the unit like the competition do. Everything is designed, developed and engineered in house.

Go with the best on earth, or buy garbage.

Longevity, does not mean reliability

Case in point:
Ducati Vilar Cucciolo 1950

..Oh yea, I went there

Northgate Rent-All here in town has Canadian Tire's warranty service contract for Champion generators.
The owner warned me not to buy one, as 50% of the ones sold in Brantford's store end up returned or repaired in the first yr.
He then told me about the Hyundai and I ordered it. It arrived, ran great, but wouldn't make electricity. I returned it for warranty repair and he had to send it away. I waited months, so he kept loaning me a Honda from his rental fleet for each race weekend. He then finally refunded my $ after Hyndai kept giving him the runaround.
I went to Walmart and bought the very same Hyndai......which lasted one season before it quit.....and I had to put a new plug in it every weekend....and it was always tough to start.

So I replaced it with a Coleman, that seized up after 1.5 hrs of use.

I finally heeded the warnings and got a Yamaha.....no problems since.

RIP that Hyundai lol - That pull-cord would give blisters if you didn't use gloves!

That coleman was sold in near-death condition to more than one person... speaking of which, buyer beware if you don't personally know/trust the item that is being sold. Even the people with track-cred may or may not be aware of the impending doom of the item they are selling you.

The CT Champion generator has one of the lowest return rates and warranty claims. Less than 3 percent. In case you don't know, that's low.

What are you guys considering "hard to start"? My Honda has no primer button, just choke, and after sitting unused for a few weeks it usually takes at least 5 pulls to start. That doesn't seem hard to start to me, but it's certainly never been a one pull starter.

To add to the stats that were kind of running in this thread: Mine is an EU2000i, I've had it for 3 seasons (so something like 25 track days), no problems so far. Still on the first spark plug that I cleaned each winter (even though it looked perfect). It is able to run my Bickle warmers and my friend's Chicken Hawk warmers no problem.

If your arms get tired, then it's hard to start lol - My Yamaha 1000 inverter takes 1-3 pulls, depending when was the last time it was used. But 3 was the max, right after winter storage. I think it's about 4 years old (only had it for 1 year).

My Honda 2000 is about the same for starting, but I only used it 2-3 times a year for the last couple years. :(

and as off soon even less :)

I have the yellow 3500 watt Champion. Always starts on 1st or 2nd pull, even after winter. Never changed oil or plug. Can power 3 sets of warmers.

Running flawless for 3 seasons. Got it for $350 on sale.

Yamaha, no primer, just choke, sits for a month, usually starts first pull, sometimes second

My Kipor has a key start...Never used the pull cord...do I win a prize for being the laziest in the thread???

No that would be me, mine has the remote start and off!

I pull into the pits, wrap the warmers around the tires, flop into the chair, grab a cold drink and hit the start on the remote. LOL

LOL
