Tour Master Hi-Viz Intake Air jacket
How is that jacket? Would you recommend it? I was thinking about buying one for the hot summer months hi viz as well.
Fortunately I can't give you a review of its protective qualities but yes, I would recommend it. The armour is reasonably substantial, for this type of jacket. Just hard foam, but it has good coverage. The airflow is excellent but I've even worn it down to 0C, with the thermal liner in it. Makes for a good combination on those cold spring mornings, when you know it's going to be more than a little warm in the afternoon.
Sounds good, and where did you find the hi viz one if you don't mind me asking? I looked at a few stores and don't remember seeing hi viz.
I always wear helmet, jacket, gloves helmet.
You always wear 2 helmets? Damn that's a whole new level of safe...
You can always get a mesh jacket if you want minimum protection but comfort during summer, or a well ventilated textile riding jacket. As far as jeans go just basic jeans, better than nothing (shorts). If you go down without boots, say bye bye to your ankles, better to sweat a bit but be protected than ride in running shoes and then forever limp if you go down.
i would argue - from experience - regular jeans are equal to nothing. at 60km/h they shredded away instantly on impact and i was picking gravel out of my knee when i got home (road rash). I still have the mark on that knee... this happened in 2008.
i wear full gear all the time now, kevlar jeans might protect from road rash, but they'll give you zero impact protection for when you actually slam into the road.
