Gas Pumps: Fueling

Same here. Occasionally some pimply-faced gas attendant will come out and say, "You can't do that!", but that's rare.

Yea i hate this! one time i really got ****** i was just having a bad day, so i walk inside and ask the attendant whats the problem, and he says "you can't fill the gas sitting on the bike, its not safe" so i ask him "do you have some sort of motorcycle safety course prooving this?" "do you even have a motorcycle license?" "what if my side stand fails or isn't working?"
"what if you wern't a dousche bag?" and then i left LOL.

But yea stick the nozzle in with the tip 2 inches down from the top and watch your gas flow and keep your fingers steady, its not like a car, ram it, clentch the nozzle trigger, its more involved and subtle then that. And watch the dripping, it will fade your paint.

Whether he has a Motorcycle licence or motorcycle safety course is irrelevant.

It is a safety issue he was taught (not exactly sure but it may even be a law) and has to follow or could loose his job or even worse be sued if other are hurt.

By sitting on your bike, the chances of creating a static discharge that could ignite the fuel vapours is greatly increased.

May not be likely, but chances are increased.

Chances of creating a static discharge on a bike, especially on a humid summer day, are statistically nil. Cases in which static has been the cause of a fire, at a gas station, are almost exclusively limited to people who lock the pump on, then go back into the car and sitting down, then returning to the pump in order to remove it after they hear it click off.

That's why I never fuel up on a carpet.

Same idea for sex actually, but different kind of burn.

A girl automatically earns 50 points in my books if she's carpet burnt.

I know I know, my input to the thread is useless.

+10000 . Exactly right.

They gas stations use that excuse of you getting off your bike for that reason. In reality its so you dont take off without paying. Doesnt matter soon anyways, we'll be like the Americans in no time pre paying before fueling.

Maybe the motorcycle courses need to start teaching students how to gas up a bike? LOL

They should have. When I buy my first bike, I won't even know how to open the tank.

my boy has the exact same bike as you, year colour engine and everything. thought you were him, but yeah, nozzle not all the way

Yea in reality its because they think the rider might run off with gas is my exact point of saying what i said to him, to the gas attendant. The chances of causing an explosion with massive static, by me rubbing my diick all over my bike while sitting on it is NIL. When was the last time a gas station or bike blew up because someone was filling it up sitting on top. My uncle owns an esso station he told me its ********! there is a higher chance someone stealing gas, which is the reason, but you don't hear them saying don't fill gas because its stealable.

As to clear up the static issue, even when standing the bike, its being rub against with the rider standing next to it, humans give of energy frequency regardless sitting on top or not, and in order to cause a spark or fire the friction of static needs to be very high, unless im dry humping the s.hit out of my seat nothing is going to blow up, when sitting on top of the bike with the kick stand down, its to centre the gas tank, to fill gas evenly, and with both feet on the ground what static is being caused unless someone as an ich in their groin?

just to point out went back to the same gas station made sure the same guys were there, went to fill up, stood the bike got off, once they cleared for fill up, i sat on the bike, they didn't say a word.

as for the pre pay thing, its already started happening, the shell on hwy7/jane has it and the shell on rutherford and creditview does too.

+1......

Put it in halfway in either case. Those that have to put it in all the way must have been shortchanged.

I never sit on the bike when filling.
Worst case scenario that I see, is you spill lots of gas in your lap, and then have a really long ride until you can get home to change.
In the meantime the solvent starts dissolving your nether parts, and you wish that you'd had the foresight to procreate before "the incident".
Once home, the fumes from the spill have made you nauseous and you stagger towards the door. The static from your pant legs rubbing together ignites the fumes, and children surround and mock you singing, liar, liar, pants on fire.
The following day, surfing from your hospital room, you find that you are the latest inductee, into the Darwin awards.

If you're going to do it at least bring a change of pants/underwear so that you can, rinse off and change in the washroom.
