Gas prices expected to soar overnight

an individual wont make a difference but lots of individuals make a massive difference? .........what?

A few people might consume a ton of gas but compared to everyone as a whole they wouldn't make much of a difference. But if everyone starts consuming less then of course there's be a massive difference. Is that not obvious?

The narrow minded guy who says "oooh, higher prices just means we'll consume less" is dumber than i thought.

Let's keep this civil and not insult each other during a debate. My elementary-aged students can do it, I'm sure we can as well.

Yes, our economy is tied to consumption. Unfortunately, we'll kill ourselves off at this rate of consumption, especially since developing countries are starting to ramp up their consumption. But it won't be the ones living now that really suffer; it'll be the generations down the road.

There are ways of dealing with reducing our consumption that don't destroy our economy. Nobody expects you to immediately move out of your suburban house and stop commuting to work. But long-term decisions need to be made over time. And gradually increasing costs of gas and products will influence those decisions.

Are you kidding me? You didn't see this?

And I'm sure Canadian citizens love the fact that foreigners are increasing realestate values to the point they are unaffordable in Toronto and Vancouver. 12 times leveraged is a good thing I guess?

"Moreover, average house prices are now 12 times personal disposable income, way above historical averages. This ratio reached 9.7 times in the last housing bubble in the late 1980s"

Those stories paint a grim picture for sure. But for every house you show me for 700k in an affluent area of the city that's on the subway line, I can show you one for half that price in arguably a less to do area, but still closer to downtown than the burbs. And that's a house, there's plenty of apartments and condos in the city for those people that want to make a life here.

Vancouver is a tragedy for Canadians that want to be property owners in the city where they work, but if they don't want to fight for it through political means then what can anyone do for them? Citizen groups in Vancouver need to put pressure on foreign ownership policy in that part of the country, in fact, it's worth exploring here in Ontario so we don't end up like them.

$5 is enough to ruin your Easter weekend?

Ya, I got laid off 2 weeks ago from my bike shop job 'cause business is slow, so money is tight. And I'll end having to fill up more since I'm driving down to Peterborough to Brampton and various relatives houses.

before, they use to make a poor excuse to rape use.
But now, they just rape us without us having a chance to put lube :(

Don't you drive a new-ish Matrix?

I find it odd that people get in an uproar about gas prices going up by a few pennies...yet they keep on buying their Starbucks frapamapacino's!

With BUGS in them!!!!! BUGS!!!!!! :-D

People line up at Starbucks everyday to over pay for crap. Guess oil companies can do the same.

and i find it odd that you generalize the entire population as either bitching about gas AND buying premium coffee or smiling as they fill up.

Funny how you say that. I read a report from ZeroHedge about what really drove the INTERNET business, it was really oil. Oil runs food, clothes, transport, Travel, computers/Internet, etc.

Alot of ppl don't realise alot of chemicals and plastics are produced from crude. They don't see the dependability of crude yet. It literally fuels the Industrial machine

Oil runs EVERYTHING, we had better learn to go without it before we run out of it... You can't even build solar, wind, nuclear etc without using large quantities of oil...

Thanks for spoiling my day by mentioning coffee.
I can't even drink regular coffee anymore :(

FWIW the oil companies are well on their way to another record year of profits guess life isnt worth living without a solid 24k gold bidet in the guest cottage guess we all have to tighten our belts and dig deep to help support these poor folks
