FZ6/options for "new" bike

So I turned 25 and insurance has given me a break! I have put 5000km on my ninja300 over the past year and love it. Due to timing of pending tickets I am looking for something bigger to lsat me the next two years. If you want to say dont move up or anything post some where else :)I love the ninja and how nimble it is and the riding position. The power has been perfect for my street riding, a little lacking on the highway but in the curves with my buddies and there 600's they are not pulling away from me. What I dont like is the seat.. hurts my butt and I've been doing a bit of two up riding and you really notice the difference.

Everyone is saying get a 600rr.. although I feel I am responsible enough with it, I do not plan to do track days now, I enjoy long rides and comfort to me is more important then going 300km ripping down the highway.

I am looking at the FZ6 or the ninja650 as a option. I have 4-6k to spend and my insurance guy said i can get anything up to 1000cc and be similar priced.

I got to test ride it the FZ6 and enjoyed it allot aside from the vibrating mirrors on the highway. It screams like the 300 and I like it. The cbr500.. I prefer the 300. I am just looking for other options, potentially something a little newer that fits in the same category as this. Twisty roads, highway driving, comfortable, and a bit of 2 up.

Thanks!!

this...trust the man who cannot diagnose a faulty battery by himself

You know sometimes i'd like to meet you face to face, because you're such a swell guy and all.

Can you really blame me for finding it unusual that the battery that was kept inside all winter on a trickle charger out of a bike with 2000km's on it would all of a sudden be garbage worthy? Yeah silly me.

Back to topic hahah

Sorry, not what I intended to happen. Sometimes the trash overflows around here.

But this kinda thread has been made a thousand times and the answers are pretty much always the same.

SV650/Gladius/DRZ400
NINJA 650/ER6N/Ninja 500
CBR500R/X/F/CBR650F
FZ6/FZ6R/R3
RC390/Duke

Pick which one you like the most and you will be happy. They are all good bikes.

I was touching on this in another post yesterday. The issue with the FZ6 is fueling around 5700rpm. Stock, the vibes can be really annoying between 95 & 110kmph. Pipes soften it a bit. +/- a tooth to bring the rpm's up or down to avoid it being right at the GTA's cruising speed. Sand in the handlebars. It is an issue with the bikes, but not a deal breaker as there are many options to virtually eliminate the problem. The 07's came with a stock gel seat and better peg position for your passenger.

In the other post, guy was complain about his 05 VFR. See about taking one out. You won't look at the FZ6 quite the same afterward. There are also a few Fazer8's floating about (I'm a fairing guy!). Smoother delivery than the 6. Both ergos are more upright than the Honda.

FZ6 is a great all around bike, can do pretty much anything you want with it. FZ6R is a significant downgrade, unless you have a fairing fetish.

power commander to retune the bike??

You'd think so, but I never purchased one when I had my FZ6's so cannot say first hand.

I think the vibes affect some people/bikes more than others. Mine had no bothersome vibes at all, I did have the heavy Throttlemeisters on it since a month after I bought it, can't remember what it was like without them.

Why not just go with a 1000cc if it's gonna be the same?

FZ1
SV1000
Ninja 1000

Anything less is just uncivilized

In that case why wouldn't he just put on his helmet and run a 100m dash head first into a tree.

You will never know how enjoyable those 100m's are if you skip to the end. Upgrade bikes as you upgrade your riding.

you do that often ?
it would explain a lot of your posts

@Dr. L. I think you are onto something because in all my time on bike forums he sure as hell threw me for a short loop with the item in bold.

Not sure if he was using a DOT/SNELL lid...seems tree won.

Yeah I thought some of you guys might have trouble with that one. It's like a hotdog wrapped in a pretzel sprinkled with pickle juice.

Wut?
