Ford Nation - How do you like me now???

Scarborough became a thriving Metropolis with their LRT ;)

Short term thinking wins out again.

Now we just have to save up for the extra buses, for when the LRT breaks down.
The Scarberians know all about that.

I'm sure Scarberians would do well with a subway. I don't recall seeing Mayor Ford's plan on how to fund it.......maybe it was just me.

Mayor Ford skips Big City Mayors metting..... Mr Ford "I don’t go to FCM. Since when do I go to FCM?’’ .... Maybe you should start since you are the Mayor...... WOW he really doesn't get it!

I think the entire point is this is just a schmooze fest at the tax payers expense. Although I am sure someone will come up with a sad list what or how has Toronto benefited in the past, I ask how have we really benefited that could not have happened if Miller etc. did not attend? Ford is not the type of guy that will spend tax payers money to have a good time, I guess that is wrong?

The Mayor has accomplished a lot (some would argue more than the last guy in two terms), much of which people thought he had no chance like the city worker contracts. Sure the guy is not some polished slickster politician like the last guy, but that is part of the point.

The LRT was pushed through on hate (hate for Ford), the people don't want it, it makes no sense. If the argument is cost then why not a dedicated bus lane instead (cheaper and busses can drive around broken ones). Surface LRTs down city streets is just daft. LRTs though hydro ROWs may make sense but we are not talking about that.

My prediction, when the current council term is up there will be an even stronger right wing movement cleaning out what is left (pun intended). There are people on council that will vote against Ford even if they agree what he is putting forward, they need to go because they do not represent the people that voted for them.

I've had to go to conferences and such like the FCM etc. I have to say, they are a lot of hot air and wasted time often. However, most people who are at the top of their game do go to the conferences to at least network and sometimes you can pick up some useful tidbits. I suppose it's more about staying current and showing your face. I won't go to some because what they're offering just isn't that useful to me. The mayor may think that and maybe he's right. I mean, I think probably he could learn a thing or two, but I don't think it makes him an idiot for not going. My own personal view is he could use all the help he can get.. :-) But..that's me.

I admit I didn't realize this was a schmooze fest, but as the Mayor of one of the largest cities in Canada I think this is/should be an instance where the Mayor has the opporunity to lead and push the City's agenda ... oh wait now I realize why he didn't go....

He needs to push the cities agenda to other cities? I do not understand...

I cannot stand him and his "little" brother, but I think TRCA should let him expand his backyard, so his kid can play safely.

hmmm.....I think he is the one that gets it...finally

he bails on the useless shmooze-fest that's a complete waste of time and money and he stays in this city to be on call

where was he today? down at Union station with the head of the TTC assessing the damage from the flood and getting a timeline on the fix

remember the Propane explosion? where was Miller? did he rush back to Toronto to roll up his sleeves and get dirty?

Ford totally gets the role of being the Mayor imo......he's showing the rest of the political punters how it should be done

Worst of all, where was Miller during G20? As far away from it as possible. Ford can skip out from as many Pride events as he wants, he's earned it.

yup....if it's got even a hint of social-engineering then Ford avoids it like the plague.......but if it involves rolling up his sleeves and grabbing a broom, he'll be right in the thick of it

I'll happily pay someone who does work instead of someone telling me how I should think
