Food prices

so buy pasta made with semolina not durum wheat and your good to go.
(PS, canadian made dry pasta sucks)

I have noticed the price of beef is down a bit at the grocer, all the western feed lots are hitting the market and red meat is in good supply and demand is down. Loading up the freezer on steaks.

Won a turkey at a draw the other week , what do two people do with a 20lb turkey, other than eat it for a week.
Smoke it. Turkey jerkey is good too.

When I lived in the states, big grocers gave away turkeys when you don't $200 on turkeys - I'd have a freezer full at Thanksgiving and xmas. I always took them to the local mission that had s kitchen they'll feed 10 dinners and 15 lunches with each bird.

Hahahaha.

Hahahaha.
Overseas somewhere, "VAT" is a tip off.

Canadian maple syrup, or maple syrup in general actually, holds a very high price premium because it's considered a luxury item. It's also not cheap to transport around the world.

It's also impossible to know what currency that is. It could be one that basically translates to $25 Canadian or something.

Tourist trap area I’m going to guess.

I’ve been there as well. You only find luxuries like that in touristy areas to begin with (the local grocery stores where actual residents shop wouldn’t even carry it) and it’s priced insanely because, well, tourists. People from elsewhere in the world (USA and Canada excepted) wound consider that a true unique luxury thing they’ve probably never tasted before.

And she’s sure that’s not $Caribbean? If she’s anywhere outside the resort / cruise tourist crap area it wouldn’t be in USD.

Yes, carib dollars. They rented a place away from the resorts.

Also, the cheaper products on the supermarket shelf aren't real Maple syrup. Aunt Jemima's is basically all high fructose corn syrup.

.47 Carib to 1 cdn , still 28.00 a bottle . Which given where it is , it’s not bad . However you can get rum for $4 bucks so just put that on your pancakes

I have a bottle of maple wine. Finally a breakfast wine. Sweet like ice wine.

I did a job at a distillery last month and they threw in a couple of bottles of these as a present:

Maple syrup that's been barrel-aged for three months in a recently empty bourbon cask. So delicious!

This is all that's left of it.

Pancakes and french toast are merely a delivery system for this whisky maple syrup!
