My mother just told something that makes you think how pathetic consumerism is. During communism, in Romania, people sometimes had to line up overnight for FOOD. She says there were no stampedes or fights in the lineups. In the US people are killing each other for toasters. These people really boggle my mind.

Its not even free. Imagine if things were free, how many people would die?

Another philosophical question, if they are willing to "kill" people for a discount, why not just steal the item on a normal day? Wouldn't that be a lesser criminal charge??

My quest to better understand people continues...
