First ride?? Advice please??

Although it's possible to start on a 1000cc, it's not very newbie-friendly. I would suggest you start on a 125/250. :)
It also takes a longer time to develop good riding habits on a 1000 than a smaller displacement bike. It's fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow. Don't be the slow guy on the fast bike, people will just point and laugh!

Good luck and keep us updated as to what you purchase.

I've been told to get an R1. I think it will be my first ride. Gotta buy something soon!!

Yeah R1 seems like the rational choice having had experience with multiple mountain bikes, they're pretty close performance wise and I hear they're quite the same to ride. If you'd only had a tricycle or something I would've said go for a gixxer 600 but the R1 is probz fine brah.

+1 Would read again.

Skip the R1 and get a Hayabusa brah, you'll be KING of the road for realz yo..

 I agree.

Lol no troll bros. Just an excited newb. I posted twice out of excitement. It was 1 in the morn, I wasn't expecting any replies anyway.

But I'm confused. R1 or no R1? I'm not very good at reading sarcasm ...my friend thinks you're being sarcastic jerks but that I should listen to you anyway pick up my Yamaha R1?

If you have a lead on a good deal then why not? Get whatever your heart desires, just make sure you take it easy and don't try to be a hero.

What year model are you looking at?

I was being a jackass, but hey, ride what makes you happy. Just know that the R1 is MUCH faster than anything you've probably experienced and it's bound to scare the **** out of you/make you drop it. Some guys do fine, some guys don't... it's your call I guess. Most people would say get something smaller at first and pick up the fast bike after 1 yr if you really still want it.

Have you priced out the insurance for an R1 yet? Wouldn't be surprised if the insurance changes your mind quick!

Been riding my 250 around. No experience on other bikes but man it feels fast as ****
I couldnt imagine a 1000

Many start with something smaller, acquire a reasonable level of skill, and then move on to a rocket (like an R1). I recommend taking a course, then buy whatever your resources and manhood allow :)
