First motorcycle

I don't want to sound like a dick (I probably will) but you spent about 8 large on a new bike you will likely be dropping.

Congrats I guess. The heart wants what the heart wants.
Also trust you didn’t come across like a dick it’s a valid point I just figure I’ll likely drop a bike at some point so why worry about it happening on this bike or another

@Canuckles don't focus on the 'what ifs'. Remember what your instructors showed you, especially about low speed turns and where to carry the weight while walking the bike. Being nervous with a new bike is normal, just push past it.

A few days ago I had to do my first u turn on my new beast and I was a bag of nerves.
The one good thing is I’m mostly a “I’ll cross that bridge when I get there” person so not too much stress right now I’m just looking forward to getting seat time in. I’ll do my best to treat this bike right but in the end what is meant to happen will happen

I can top that, for embarrassment... New bike was probably 3 weeks old... Took a 350km ride up to my parents place for lunch. Showed her off; had lunch - was getting ready to leave - they have a drive that slopes down towards the road; but the sidewalk portion is level - walking a U-turn to face the right way to leave, caught the sidewalk grade change awkward, and over to the right it went.

Other than a gigantic bruise to my pride and a small scuff on the engine guard bars (thank f=ck I'd installed them the weekend before); no harm...
I don’t get why it’s always right after a successfully completed long drive something goes down, went 300km to my sisters house 300km home no problems the night I get home I total my car 5 mins from my house picking up my friend from work

Not at first gonna take it nice and easy since it’s my first bike
ok.. hit me up if you are ever tinkering with the bike...

I put up
1) Quad Lock Mag Safe mount
2) Slip on exhaust
3) ST2 Blinking Brake Lights
4) Tyga Tail tidy

can show you how I did it... if you ever want...

Nah I probably did. 8K just sounded like a lot for a bike you might shortly grow out of. (and maybe drop)
Regardless you have it now. Time to start riding the wheels off it. If you're out London way I'm always up for a jaunt.

Meh, dropping a bike happens.
I dropped my new $25k bike when unloading it from a trailer over the winter. Smashed the left mirror and broke the bracket on the bars that the mirror screws into.
Luckily I had just got the crash bars installed and I had the bags on the bike so no other damage.
Replaced the broken bits and it's as good as new.

I get it. Most of my bikes have had a little lay down at one point. The killer more times than I can count.

I’d like to meet the guy that has not dropped a bike at one point . I’m sure they exist, I’ve never met them

Sounds like a plan and honestly ya I might outgrow it but for now it’s gonna be my baby. I’m not really a high speeds guy ya I get up there occasionally but honestly I don’t see myself outgrowing this bike for at least a few years until my insurance drops

You dropped the bike on that full size trailer ramp?? I thought doubled up 2x10 was a tad risky when unloading my GS850G from U-haul pick up truck. :)
