First motorcycle

Niceeeeee. I always tell people that it's fast in the right hands, just not mine. This is my bikes third season and I cannot say I'm bored with it. RC390 forum has alot of info on our motors and mods even though it's not super active anymore. Duke390 forum is more active and there is alot of crossover between the bikes.
Enjoy!
I don’t think I’m the right hands for speed either lmaooo unlike most teenagers on crotch rocket I’m not a speed demon nor do I plan on dying young. Honestly went with the bike cuz that style has so far been the most comfortable for me, the bike looks nice and I think it would make for a sweet ride for some cruising

Age means nothing to me when it comes to a chill ride. Once I get a little more comfortable I’d love to meet up for some rides though while you might not believe me I do plan to take things slow at first I’m not really much of a speed demon and I don’t have a death wish so likely you’ll find me going for some relaxing cruises to some great music
Beautiful bike. I would avoid music for the first while. You want all of your senses laser focused on keeping you alive. Music basically eliminates hearing as a useful input regarding the environment/vehicles around you.

Makes sense though my first little bit is gonna be like 90% parking lots practicing the stuff I learnt in my safety course I’m pretty cautious regardless of what vehicle I’m in

sounds like you are close to or near the beaches? since u took the course around there? just don't confuse my RC with your RC.. welcome and enjoy the ride.. :)

I’m actually up near Whitby/Oshawa took the beaches course cuz it was the only spot that had a date that worked with my schedule lol

The wait must be killer...
This weekend doesn't sound like the best riding weather (especially to learn). On the plus side it will help wash the roads. Pickup early next week avoids the temptation of heading out in the cold and wet to get some seat time in.

Congrats
Ride safe and enjoy

I don't want to sound like a dick (I probably will) but you spent about 8 large on a new bike you will likely be dropping.

Congrats I guess. The heart wants what the heart wants.

You did indeed, congrats I guess.

Not everyone drops their first bike.

@Canuckles don't focus on the 'what ifs'. Remember what your instructors showed you, especially about low speed turns and where to carry the weight while walking the bike. Being nervous with a new bike is normal, just push past it.

A few days ago I had to do my first u turn on my new beast and I was a bag of nerves.

I never dropped my first bike! I did drop my second, third, fifth, and eighth bikes though. The eighth bike looked exactly the same after as it did before

On the plus side, the bike is light. First year, bought brand new and I haddalayerdown bud. We weren't even in motion lol. I was moving the bike side to side after a wash and whoops, there it went on the right side so very slowly. Bar end took all the weight and no other contact. Stupid embarrassing though with everyone at the car wash noticing.

I think the foot slip/tip over is the most common way for bikes to have a nap (especially with new riders). Thankfully damage is normally not extensive.

congrats on the new bike...she's a beaut!

my first bike was a CBR125 back in 2011...I was dating a guy who also rode and he had just bought a brand new Victory Kingpin (he was a seasoned rider)...anyways, he showed up at my house one day and was waiting for me in the driveway when I got home from a short ride around the neighbourhood (this was right after getting my M1)...I was so excited when I pulled up that I turned off the bike, got off but forgot the kickstand...needless to say, that was the first and only time that bike took a nap! LOL...

The real plus side is @Canuckles is 7 foot 5, with a 40" inseam. He could probably still save the bike as it's falling past the 60 degree mark just by squeezing his knees together real tight.

Sorry, did that come out as bitter jealousy...?

I can top that, for embarrassment... New bike was probably 3 weeks old... Took a 350km ride up to my parents place for lunch. Showed her off; had lunch - was getting ready to leave - they have a drive that slopes down towards the road; but the sidewalk portion is level - walking a U-turn to face the right way to leave, caught the sidewalk grade change awkward, and over to the right it went.

Other than a gigantic bruise to my pride and a small scuff on the engine guard bars (thank f=ck I'd installed them the weekend before); no harm...
