Finally tried dirtbiking!

Must be an awesome 2 stroke. My Bill Burr tuned machines couldn't come close to a 4 stroke in the low rev department for a slippery surface, they would either try to rip the knobbies off the tires or lug with no power or stall. Woods racing and the average Joe trying to go up a steep and slippery incline with exposed roots the 4 stroke rules. Torque is just enough to keep forward momentum at low revs. The 2 stroke racers aren't going to do that for a guy who wants to go dirtbiking, and not racing.

Remember we are talking about people who have just discovered dirt biking here.

I'm no pro and it took me all of 15 minutes to teach my 16 year old daughter to slip a clutch to prevent stall when riding technical terrain on my stock 125.

Funny how there was only 2 bikes in the pro class at this past weekends Corduroy Enduro that were 4 strokes according to Sherco. They were both factory sponsored riders and they only managed a 3rd and 4th.

Honda and suzuki in a hp war? The cr500 was built to compete in open class mx. Suzuki didnt even produce an open class bike when the ama killed the 500 class.

4 strokes suck? The crf 400r only makes 5 hp less than the 500.

Suzuki had an RM 400 and an RM 465. It was a cc war. Google is your friend.

Comparing four stroke hp to two stroke hp is like comparing apples to d*cks. The two strokes are all about torque not hp. Need a lesson in torque vs hp?

Just to bring this thread back on course, the four strokes are def more rider friendly and thus keeping in line with the OP's first experience on a dirtbike, the four stroke is a much better choice for new riders. Sportbike guys are slightly insane...nothing is fast enough. Most new riders trying out a two stroke will loop it. So it's generally not advised

And yamaha had a yz490 and kawasaki the kx 500.....built for open class racing not a cc war. Suzuki wasnt even a fan of the open class from what I have read.

You should really do a google search of torque numbers and dyno sheets before you state 250 two strokes have way more torque than 450 4 strokes....its not the case.
