Interesting. How did the locking mechanism work?My old 1974 Cb360 had a keyless latch too IIRC. Baller ass bike indeed.

It was a latch that was keyless. Anyone could open it.Interesting. How did the locking mechanism work?
Well, can’t say I’m down with that.It was a latch that was keyless. Anyone could open it.
It's not splitting hairs. You get lots more gas in (at least a few dollars). If you are just riding around town, that doesn't matter. If you are riding all day, that is one about whole gas stop that you avoid. That is clearly better if you are trying to cover distance.
another myth
Petrol lit with a cigarette? Only in the movies
From Hitchcock's The Birds to The Usual Suspects, it has been one of the staple cliches of Hollywood: the cigarette butt tumbling in slow motion into a pool of petrol unleashing a conflagration.www.theguardian.com

Three to six fuel stops a day if I am touring. A bit more in every tank can turn six into five. So, I'll get an extra 500km if I fill on the center stand?
Don't smoke but it was done in an occupied court room. Can't find that link but.Great. Can we test this theory on your bike?
I'm kind of surprised you can still pump before you pay here. They changed the law in BC a few years ago to pre-pay only, after a station attendant was killed trying to stop a runner (happened not far from where we lived in Maple Ridge). I always pre-pay with card now, so hadn't noticed you could pump first...maybe she's had bikes do runners in the past?
There have been a lot of those here too. IIRC a bad one in Mississauga/Brampton where the poor attendant got hit/dragged and run over. I don't see many downsides to pre-pay. It is annoying if you are paying cash to go in twice but that can't be too many people anymore.I'm kind of surprised you can still pump before you pay here. Don't get too personal about it. Rules are of course created to deal with morons. If everyone is careful, smart and kind we won't need any rule.I put the kickstand down and stand up with a bike underneath me. On short rides I’ve been doing that for 30 years so I was surprised to learn all these new rules. I’ve never dropped gas on my bike I’m super careful.
Why would they ask to remove your helmet outside?I get ****** when on rare occasions asked to remove my helmet over the loudspeakers.
Given I'm wearing a convertible where my face is fully visible sufficiently to cross a border without removable. They don't get my business.
Most places here, pump the gas and wander in to pay for it. Way it should be.
I've never witnessed a fire at a pump either, but it happens quite a bit. Remember the nice new Porsche 918 that went up at the Esso station on Highway 10 and King a few years ago. $900K gone in a flash!I have never seen a fire at the pump.
I always dismount mostly because it's usually time to stretch the legs.
It actually makes perfect sense. If you don't dismount, you probably don't have the sidestand down. If there is a fire and you are on your bike you probably aren't going to put the sidestand down. You are going to RUN! The tank will be open and up the boom factor.
But go nuts. What could go wrong?
Get his face on camera in case he splits. Why would they ask to remove your helmet outside?
I'm not sure if that was a fueling issue or just a general supercar burning itself to the ground issue. If the companies/regulatory authorities were worried about that, they would make all passengers get out before fueling. Bike fires are probably even more rare as we can't even point to a single incident.I've never witnessed a fire at a pump either, but it happens quite a bit. I also dismount and put the bike on the centre stand. That way I can get more fuel into the tank.
