He was one of the first I was going to mention but, felt it was too easy of a pic. Dazed and Confused, Stairway, Whole Lotta Love, In my Time of Dying. Big Zep fan.

After Napster, I'm afraid to mention Kirk or anything Metallica on the Internet. lol.

I guess when the thread is "favorite" guitar solo, it's doesn't have to be the most brilliant guitarist really.

There are some solos from Angus Young that just fit the song perfectly and within the first 2 or 3 notes, you can mention the song. Not the riff, the solo I'm talking about.
 
They're are so many that we all love and air guitar to or possibly even play. The make us beat our heads, drive fast, rock out, scream and yell..whatever :) I love most of the ones listed above and I'll even mention Stairway to Heaven and not just for you Jay.

Certainly everyone is entitled to their fav and the one that does it for me (still to this day) POWERSLAVE - Iron Maiden. the break/intro to the solo section is so tasty and intense is just drips "feel". A slow build to rolling-galloping drum pattern that McBain is known for and the guys trading off sweet licks.
