Fancy a RV?

I pay something like $300/year. I'll be reminded soon as my renewal is coming up and my annual text to send money will appear.

I know in some urban places with limited storage I've heard of people paying $100 a month, or more.

What's included? In my case it consists of a gravel patch to park upon, a gate, and that's about it.
Interesting I have the room to store a few trailers for people. But not sure it's worth the hassle?

We have an aquaintance not far from you actually, has acreage and stores for people behind his barn mostly out of sight . You need a reference from another ‘guest’ to get in the program . He’s a retired farmer and has no time for problems . It’s a monthly rate and you prepay , he’s not chasing. It’s also on a contract so everyone knows what is expected. Only stipulation are call him when dropping or collecting so he knows you took it .
The contract 1 pager is a hold harmless agreement, so if a trailer blows over , it’s your problem. And so if you go into hospital ( old people die) your kids aren’t a pain in his arse .
He makes a pretty good fill in wage , is all in the back of the property so out of sight

Out here $60 a month gets me locked indoor storage with a professional rodent program. In in the fall and out in the spring. No in and out privileges.

Roughly where is "out here"? Thats seems like a really good price?

I had the use of one of these many years ago- GMC Painted Desert.
If you can find one in reasonable condition it would be absolutely worth it.
And you can tow whatever you like.

Those things have a bit of a cult following now and I understand the prices on good condition used ones are surprisingly high now.

I guess it depends on how above board you want to be so far as zoning, insurance, and taxes on the income. I don't ask many questions where mine is stored for the bargain basement price I pay, and I carry really good personal insurance, so I leave it at that.

Wouldn't work for me, I use our camper on and off through the winter so no in-out privleges is a show stopper. This was a month or two back up at Silent Lake Provincial park.

I'm guessing in the summer months you store it at home?

Guy near Wasaga I pass each way up has a full yard of trailers and campers people store there. I can check the number next time I’m going up, but every winter his yard is full and it’s literally on the side of the main road beside Simcoe County Forest.

The industry seems to be in a shambles, pumping out garbage and avoiding responsibility.

Unfortunately, as explained in the first post, if you sign away your rights you have little recourse. I suspect many did not really understand what they were signing.

When you last purchased a car / truck did you read the full sales agreement (front and back) and / or the lease agreement before you signed the document? It's a tedious and time consuming, but necessary process. If you did read it are you sure you fully understood it?

At one dealer I knew I'd be leasing. I asked for blank sales contract and leasing contract so I could review them before finalizing the deal. Told by sales guy they can't release documents (total BS...........) like these contracts are top secret, lives are at stake........... No problem, I'll just purchase from another dealer, but thanks anyway. Got contracts to review at my leisure. Pre COVID BTW.

No one likes government rules and regulations, but this is an example where government should step in and make this type of contractual waiver illegal in all circumstances. No one who truly understands the waiver would sign it if they fully understood the implications.

As with software and new build real estate contracts, they are normally one sided and consumers have little choice. The one controlling the commodity will accept zero changes to contract. You either accept the poo being flung at you or walk away from the deal. Almost all competitors will have similarly crap contracts so the consumer has no real choice.

I was shopping for a 4 wheeled vehicle about a year ago, the dealer wanted way too much money for the used one I was looking at.
I offered fair market value (about $4k under his asking price) and he came down a grand.
Not good enough, sorry got to go - he almost followed me out the door asking for another chance. Nope.

Our best friends are shopping for a 22/26 ft trailer , they will buy new , and watching the horror stories have narrowed the search . They are not ‘value price’ shopping , but if the spread is 26-55k , there must be some very poorly fab’d units available.

One of the nicest trailers I've seen was not at the show. The Airstream Nest. 16ft long. About the size of a teardrop but you don't have to go outside to use the toilet or cook in the rain. (based soley on looks - quality who knows?)

How was Silent Lake? We were considering it for this summer.
Thought you had a teardrop.

It's nice, one we go to quite often as it's only about 1.5 hours from here for us. It's also open all winter so I'm usually there at least twice every winter. My wife thinks I'm nuts and stays home, but that's another story.

There is some absolute garbage out there right now, a lot of the Forest River models are up on that list.

Take a look at the Helio o2, or now the "Evo o2" - they recently had a name change, long story. 2000 pounds lighter, a bit shorter, certainly more compact inside (but not a big deal if you're the sort of camper who doesn't just sit inside all day when you're camping), but all the same stuff inside including a toilet/shower/galley/fridge/furnace/etc. That's the model we have. Probably less likely to leak vs the Nest because it has a lot less windows (which some find bothersome, but windows = sources for leaks), and cheaper too. Made in Canada as well.

Found the spot. A few hundred meters north of Horseshoe Valley Rd on Crossland Rd.

For some reason I can’t post it, but clear as day on google maps where trailer parking is. First property on the east side.

I think the most problems come from too many seams / gaps/ roof fittings and even the wall delams from walls seem to be coming from above . I see some models with longer roof panels , which may make sense . The warranty support that says you must inspect the roof every three months , one said 30 days . That would be hard for anyone to clamber up on the roof , and for many units just walking around up there can’t be good

The nest was canceled a few years back
