F1 Thread!!!

Mellow Vettel was growing on me... less of a jerk than younger Vettel. Still though, really nice to see Alonso wind up on the podium (and him enjoying a race lol). A bit of a foreboding turnout from Ferrari however

A little worried that Verstappen won't have any serious challengers this season

Alonsos' car control on Sunday was a thing to behold, simply amazing.

Perez just looks lost and I think he will once again spend the season taking bitter second places.
I am a little sad that it appears Russel does not have what it takes to become the new Mercedes #1, ah well.

It is the first time I have actually had respect for Lance Stroll, driving with pins in your wrists and a broken toe is no joke.

I agree Stroll showed some serious nuts , my wife who has broken both wrists really has no idea how he was doing it .
When Vettel had his media scrum about our tar sands , having made his way to Canada in a chartered jet , yeah pot , it’s a kettle , Vettel .
How Mercedes got it so wrong is a bit of a fright , and then comes Ferrari ….

You don't have to beat Ferrari, they sabotage themselves. Hopefully they are not plagued by the abysmal strategy they displayed last year.

The radio calls at the end of last year were embarrassing. "Charles.... what do you think we should do?" are you kidding?

I actually disagree with that statement. Russell is just about perfect for the job... I could even see him winning a championship with both of them still driving. He's not intimidated by Hamilton

At lasts years Montreal GP , Stroll came by the grandstand we were in , the LanceStroll stand and handed out signed hats , at the time we all joked “ well it’s a free hat” , I’ll wear it a bit more proudly now .

Was Croft in for a few pints before qualifying? "Push the remote control on your red button"

Max was in a touch of trouble in Q2.

The 5 place grid drop for gear boxes at mid-point is a little worrying I must say.

That was a rare somewhat exciting Monza race

Yesterday I learned that Toto Wolff is a billionaire. And before you say yes, F1 is a rich man's sport, his net worth seems to exceed other team principals by a factor of 200 30

Toto was in finance and a fairly fast "gentleman" racer. He had a third of that +/- in the bank before he bought into Williams.

I just caught up with the Singapore GP... first half was dull as usual, but the final third was pretty interesting actually! Everyone on the podium earned their spot
