Track was really slippery for qualifying, which put Alonzo up front . Crazy .

Lewis Hamilton today - "That was Formula 1 at its best"

Obviously not referring to Zhou. Or maybe you could argue it was, as it seems like with the halo he was completely unscathed. Have to admit I hated it at first

congrats to Sainz,

he had more luck than skills. a few more laps and perez would have been all over him.

if verstappens car wasn't compromised, it would have been game over for everyone.

If you have to pick lucky or skills, a lot of those guys would be happy with luck.

The halo saved a life, you cant slide on a helmet with a 2000lb car on your butt pushing down.

Hamilton was right , that was F1 at its best. 5 cars within 20ft of each other , with Alonzo in it. Its what the sport needed.

Again Ferrari?! Poor Sainz.
Mercedes guys being pricks and getting away with it again. That has to stop. How can Russel spin out Perez and only get a 5sec penalty? “Nothing I could do, he turned into me”. No he was going around the outside and you had tons of room on the inside but you drifted wide and spun him out instead.

His Master is teaching him his tricks.

Sorry when Sainz Ferrari is rolling away on fire, I just wanted to hear the Benny Hill theme song.

Tractor-on-track incident that I heard something about?

The race was red flagged. It's not out of sorts to have recovery vehicles/marshals/track workers on the track during a red flag. There were red lights on flashing on the sides of the track and every driver had the red light on on his steering wheel info screen to indicate it. Gasly was well in excess of the speed delta and got a 20 sec. penalty and 2 points on his licence.

Red came out a second before he came upon the tractor that was already on track prior to track going red. Prior to that it was double yellow and the driver in question was catching up to the safety car, which is allowed. Rulebook says "reduce speed" (Q: by how much??) in double-yellow conditions.

Lots of factors in play.

Dumb rulebook to allow catching up to safety car in a double-yellow situation. Dumb rulebook and dumb enforcement to apply a red-flag rule without allowing time for driver to react. Dumb driver for too fast for conditions. Dumb marshals/recovery team for sending equipment on track before confirming that safety car + race car situation was under control (no one out there at speed). All around bad situation.
