Set up a sprint race with identical machinery and spec

We all know who would still keep the drivers trophy..
Thanks for speaking for everyone, everywhere.

Unsatisfying end for me. At least seeing Perez put up a fight with Hamilton was entertaining

I'll give him credit. Loois ain't stupid. Feathering the throttle while Max was inside him in a corner during the SC putting Max half an endplate in front of him to set up Protest #1 was brilliant.

good technical explanation and reasoning. whether one agrees or not... on why Mercedes appeal was dismissed.

"In the last couple of years there has been a general agreement with the teams that the Race Director should always endeavour to have the race ending under green flag conditions, even if only for a lap or two, as at Baku earlier this year."

I had just stopped yelling at the TV about it when Brundle chimed in that Loois was feathering the throttle and it was a cheeky move on his part. Interesting that he said that, as all the "punt-its" on Sky are Brit biased to a fault (Brundle the lesser of the main 3). He also threw shade at Loois after his "Perez was 'driving dangerously'" radio message while following Checo. He muttered "I remember we use to call that racing". I LOL'd.

I just took the "dangerous driving" comment as the usual radio bluster they use to try and build a case for anything they might think benefits them. Most of the grid (if not all) does the same thing, even Kimi complained about moves he didn't like but didn't actually harm his race. You can argue about whether or not it has a place in F1, but at the time I took it about as seriously as his complaint about tire performance that came less than halfway through the stint he did on his second set.

And on Perez's radio (CotA): "My tires are fine. Leave me out."

Meanwhile: "Bonnnnooooo.........."

Max has said Toto text'd him and congratulated him.

Lolz....Love this quote...

Masi: “Go ahead, Toto.”

Wolff: “You need to reinstate that lap before, that’s not right.”

Masi: “Toto…it’s called a motor race, okay?”

Wolff: “Sorry?”

Masi: “We went car racing.”

Mercedes messed up, they took a tire gamble and lost. Get over it and move along.
Don't think there was much for Merc to do at that point. If they brought Hamilton in under SC they would have lost track position as Max would have stayed out. And before SC period, I don't think there was enough gap between Ham and Ver to pit.

RB had nothing to lose, so they took a gamble and it paid off. Good for them!

The sad part of the race was FIA and their bad decision-making.
I understand that they didn't want to end the race under SC conditions but half the lapped cars were allowed to unlap and the whole breach of 48.12 didn't seem fair to me. Especially when Horner said to Masi that they just need one lap racing and Horner got exactly that. It just was not a satisfying race as @TwistedKestrel mentioned. Nothing to do with the drivers though.

We need some scrutineers for FIA.
