F1 Thread!!!

I have to agree ... but he was not alone, most of the interviewers throughout the season were horrible (either language barrier or simply was just sugar coating everything). They should just go back to the normal post race conferences of the past or simply scrap the whole chitchat.

Agree.

They need to get somewhat relevant former drivers back there all the time... DC was pretty good, usually. Mark Webber was up there...

When the only thing Piquet had to say to Hamilton was about his girlfriend, and all Lewis had to say was "she's at home" ... twice... then he goes over to Massa.... come on man, you're talking to the future F1 Champion, here!!! :D (Screw Rosberg)

*adding Eddie Jordan to the list...

^who cares....... final race AbuDhabi is coming up.....

they'll be battling for the championship.

with double points haul, its up in the air for either

should be epic.......

Exactly. These podium interviews are silly populist spectacles, devoid of any genuine character. Like Rosberg's attempt at a Portuguese thank-you to the crowd. We'll never see something like Schumy crying, or two drivers smart-mouthing each other. And of course the interviewer is always a celebrity rather than a reporter, so the questions are pretty useless. Maybe they should have an F1 mascot and cheerleaders too *SIGH*

It almost looks like they're treating the sport as entertainment or some sort of engineered spectacle. I don't understand why they don't conduct themselves in keeping with the gravity the situation demands. Have they forgotten it's Formula 1? On a side note, my sense is that Nelson Piquet was slightly intoxicated. I've seen this type of behaviour locally.

Double points, what a farce .

It's not genuine. Seems like "they" are trying to inject a value added gimmick into the sport. "Sport" isn't even the right word as it does disservice to the importance of this global undertaking.

As for Piquet his woman back in the day was as a foxy as they come. I wish he would have done some of his German 1982 Grand Prix karate moves on Hamilton, the crowd would have loved that

A lot of the high priced talent seems to attract good looking women. I think that's pretty much universal across the sporting sphere. Even some of the hangers on aren't too shabby.

So Piquet, a three time WDC, is somehow irrelevant?? Perhaps not the best choice for the podium, but in terms of results, he belongs among the greats.

Double points, what a farce .

Agreed. Artificial, manufactured nonsense.

Well he didn't seem to follow the sport anymore based on his questions.
If I was Lewis I would ask him where his son is, if you want to get into relevancy in modern day F1.

I am not saying the guy is irrelevant in the history of motorsports.

At minimum he could show some respect for the sport/fans and come up with a question or two ahead of time that are at least worth asking. I don't mind the format, as it allows for tv stations to air their interviews sooner, they just need real questions to be asked.

New era???? You mean Honda supplying engines to F1? Mind you they are probably in better position than Ferrari and Renault right now, just because they could do a lot of observation and now have a shot and doing it right, where these two have to beg for Big Merz agreeing to unfreeze the engine development ...
