Exercise, diseases, and COVID

If it takes a month to develop shin splints, you're not ramping fast enough. ;)

I'm using an elliptical now. It's easy on the joints.
When I use the treadmill, it skips. Works fine for my kid, though.
We've got a TV set up on a swingarm between them. It's also hooked up to a computer.
There are some nice running videos from Dr. Howey on Youtube.

Might look into an exercise bike. Maybe pricing is becoming more normal considering gyms are opening up.

A few people I know have Peletons and they love em. I’m not willing to pay that price for them…0% financing and all that jazz.
Some friends have the knock off peleton (echelon) and like it. Yearly subscription is expensive but if you buy from costco it includes a year or two in the price. Same bike is available at walmart for less money with no subscription included so it is much more by the time you are working as desired.

2 mile row and at least 1 mile run plus weights 5/7 days a week.

Fit, fat, 49 and fabulous! Do what you want and what you can. **** everyone everyone else, do it for yourself.

COVID and diseased will come and go. Fitness stays.

You don't need to get the peloton brand bike, bowflex c9 (i think) is a cheaper alternative that is compatible with pelotons app if you want. Costs a lot less monthly as well. DO YOUR RESEARCH lol :p

Wait... what?
You can look fat and fit.

The popular standard though is a male Avengers character. Dunno about female standards cause I don't care lol

The other elephant in the room is that if you look like you care enough to stay fit physicians tend to treat you far better than if it looks like you do not give a **** about your health.

Can confirm. I've literally gone to my physio, chiro, and doctor with "I am trying to lift/drag knee/whatever but x/y/z is stopping me. How do I fix it?"

They're always super positive. One even joked "you're gonna have joint pains later so come back for that at 50" lol

Whenever I see Peletons/treadmills etc this is what goes through my mind…

All that wasted energy too…stick a dynamo on the things and at least power the lights.

The simplest one to extract power from is a bike trainer. It is still a terrible idea. Cost and carbon required to produce useful power would exceed the savings over a lifetime of use. Hell, a treadmill is a power consuming device, therefore there is no power to be harvested. Some bike trainers can generate their own power so they dont need to be plugged in, most need a small amount of power from the wall and the power from your legs goes straight to heat.

This got me thinking
Exercising away happily without a thought about all that Co2 that I'm breathing out as well as the waste those extra calories that i consume selfishly squandering resources.
Perhaps our fearless government can impose a "earth murder" tax on all exercise activity other than procreation that would be in the spirit of the moms act...
Looking at what i just wrote it may be time to go for a long ride.

MP both my wife and I spend time on a stationary bikes each morning. Both are dated and bought quite cheap, but I doubt my muscles can tell it's not a peleton. (Both have tension control and a speedometer- really everything you need except maybe a screen with some nob screaming at you)

You can tell the difference but if you can motivate yourself to hop on a cheap trainer and pedal through the mud for a while, your legs/fitness won't care too much. Peleton helps people by providing motivation and more interesting and varied workouts than the old-school slog through the mud. Also, if yours are as old school as my parents, the geometry on them is messed up (probably to make them smaller to ship), if you do a lot of hours your body may not appreciate it. For most people doing a 30 minute ride in the morning, that probably isn't a big issue.

Two points to OP ....

Exercise helps the immune system if not overdone and builds up O2 capacity which could come in handy in a severe case ....best to avoid that with vax.

Getting outside removes this risk - which I only learned about yesterday.

S Korea is densely populated.
