I think it is Paint Protection Film. It is like a kind of clear "bra" intended to protect the paint from scratches or stone chips.
Bingo.

Matte paint is more annoying to upkeep.

When I get my track confidence up I’ll eventually bring out the Panigale.

Nope, they don't even offer that as far as i know.

Third party place which specializes in PPF, wraps and ceramic work. If you're lucky they already have precut available for your models fairings.
 
Hey not sure if this was asked, but what were the other bikes in contention before deciding on the Duc? We know you test road the HD, guess you are not ready for an old man bike, eventhough I thought you said something about just crusing around, and something about passenger... yadda yadda...

I don't think i ever said passenger!

I was pretty set on a sport bike yeah, as listed in post#1

1) M1000RR Competition - BMW
2) RSV41100 Factory - Aprilia

not ready for cruiser just yet, maybe a future street bike.
 
Well his last bike had 187 iirc. If you want mo powa, there arent many options.

No one's stepped up to the plate and picked up an XTrenta. Aprilia is claiming 230HP. Some VIN plate sleight of hand and presto, #1 baller status.

Yeah seems so, I was being a bit nosy and looked up the stats of your bike, if I saw correctly 210 HP dam, baller!

I believe 217. ‘Special oil’ and the exhaust being installed allegedly add another 17 or so.

For the new V4R they are claiming 240 hp with race system/map and 3 hp of that from the special oil for dry clutch motors only.
The Panigale's are by far the sexiest sports bikes out, Aprilia probably still has the best sound?

PPF is clear. And comes with or without ceramic.
You can DIY, or otherwise.

Yes they have Xpel stealth option for the matte look.

Yes I believe my V4SP2 will be 235ish with same.
 
I got one of those limited edition Ducs, 1 of 450 bikes.

Turns out it was 1 of 450 in North America, 1000 of them made World Wide.

And they made 1000 of them every year for 3 years. Then they had a special edition Troy Bayliss edition, which was another 500 units, bringing the total up to 3,500...

And then I had the gall to actually ride the bike, putting on over ~20,000 kms in the 3 years I owned it. Lost 2/3rds of its value because no one wants a "collectible" that's been ridden...

Real collectibles aren't created by artificially limiting supply. They're created because the factory doesn't think they'll sell well, so they limit production accordingly and the model unexpectedly takes off well after the fact. Examples of this are the Ducati SportClassic which sell now more than what they cost brand new.

It's a bit like comic-book collecting. Rare comics are collectibles because no one back then thought they'd be worth anything. Now, they make 10s of 1000s of #1 issues of new comic book titles and they're basically worthless.

No modern limited production homologation (not special edition Matrix/Bayliss/etc) Ducati "R" bike after the 996R currently sells for more than its MSRP. It's just not a thing anymore.
The new (2017) Ford Gt was the same, first it was super exclusive limited to 500, then another 500, then another ~200..then a few more. 1350 in total...if I was one of the first buyers I would've been cheesed... But then the value of them 2.5x'd and many sold for over double their initial investment, lessening the cheesed factor I guess. Pretty sure they even hold back the ownership paper for a year so you cannot sell it in your first year of ownership for profit.

Yes. It's 2 years. Some wrestler bought one and sold it during the first year. Multimatic filed a suit against him.
