I spent three wks in Tahiti about 4 yrs ago on a sailboat. It is truly spectacular, if your a water sport guy . We went to Bora Bora and the to the teamoto islands about 300 nm NE of Tahiti , it’s the most spectacular diving I’ve ever done , and I used to dive a lot .
Take in the pearl market at the farmers market in the capital. Every new bride deserves a pearl necklace …..

Woah, they renamed it? I haven't had one in ages, but remember loving it in the mid-80's. I think you could only get them at (some) variety stores, so they were literally a treat!
IIRC it was “Tahitian Treat” in the US and “Tahiti Treat” in Canada

I remember hearing it was cream soda relabeled . And the sugar content was crazy.
The Tahitians have a wicked sweet tooth problem and a lot of the local cocktails are sugary death. Bubblegum flavoured vodka drinks .

At 30 + years in I can only offer you this advice.
Don't wall paper a room together (is wallpaper even a thing still?)
Don't try to teach your wife to drive a stick
And always open a window before you start a motorbike in the house.
