Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

For sure they waited almost a year for the trout to get to be nice sized, I was shocked at the efficiency of the clean out not one left.

To be honest, I am not sure if the pond has or has ever had fish, but I know I have seen turtles (in other ponds) and frogs.
The one thing I have to check is the depth of the pond as that will determine if fish are even possible and if they will survive (longer)
Also, there is nothing for them to hide under or any basking spots, so I may address this as well.
But this all means nothing if the pond continues to be left stagnant, so aeration is job # 1

Also have to look at getting the barn roof repairs as it leaks, mostly from the home-made skylights that are well past their prime.

Thank goodness they removed that old trailer...

After that facelift to the house... Good luck
My mother already told me ‘make sure you keep the house until I’m dead. My heart can’t take you selling that after all that effort you and your father put into it. Just wait until I’m 6ft under. Then do whatever.’

@Jampy00 I am in awe of this property....wonder if I can convince my wife to get the eff out of Mississauga...
Thanks, we have no regrets doing this. If you do plan on doing it I'd say sooner than later. Properties like this are getting harder to find.

Is the pond fed by any water source? Think about biological filtration and aeration. Adding some plants to add oxygen will give a habitat for fish too. To aerate that with a pump is going to cost a fair bit of cash. Nice project!

Edit: it doesn’t have to be wildly deep for fish to survive! Water is weird, if it doesn’t freeze it becomes it’s most dense at 4C. That means the water at the bottom of a moderately deep pond is 4C.

A shallow pond is toughest on fish in the summer. Warm water absorbs a lot less oxygen, water levels usually decline, and more land and air predation.

Not good for fishes.

Need a new table saw (or used). 10” preferred as the Bosch I was using is shot from all the cement dust.

Got stiffed today by a Kijijidiot so back on the hunt. Recommendations?

Thinking Bosch again as I have the gravity table, but open to switching to a diff brand.

I have a Dewalt. Bought it around 12-14 years ago. Only used for home reno stuff but it works well.
Wish the table top was a little bigger but oh well.
They do make one but I am not forking out the dough at this point. Maybe if I was doing it for a living.

I think any one of the top brands (Dewalt, Rigid, Milwaukee, Bosch, Makita) will serve you well.
Matter of finding a deal on one.

Thinking about it now, you could have bought a cheap, used MasterCrap for the siding project and thrown it out after. But that ship has sailed now.

The Bosch 4000 I have was gifted to me by dad so no charge there.

May see if I can find the same type as I do like it. Pretty pi$$ed with this guy that shafted me today.

Kijiji... I only use it when I have no other choice. Mind you people piss me off so I just end up tossing the item..

Can you get a replacement motor or have we talked about this before?

That looks like a boxcar.

Is this the last table saw you want to buy or something you can drag around?
Go buy a used Delta unisaw , or a Delta contractor saw . Both can be had cheap on Facebook market or Kijiji. It’s the benchmark in small shop saws . I’ve owned a lot of saws ( long story) my go to has always been a Delta contractor saw . My current one is 40 yrs old , works perfect .

I’m not a huge DIY and really after this project the need for a big / hardcore saw is going to be almost NIL. Just a few jobs here and there.

So may go with a cheaper option than the big power saws.

I wish, it was a fiberglass 54' transport trailer from the 80's in really bad shape.
Cost them 5000 to have it pulled out, that was our only condition, get it out and show us a invoice.
The fiberglass was started to "rot" and we didn't want that crap all over the place.
They even sent us video of it leaving the property, 100% not road worthy but that was their issue...

Get a good one, I may need to borrow it.. 😜

Agreed, that is why I'll confirm depth before anything goes into the water.
But even if I don't stock it, I'll still aerate it.
