They are leaving us a large snowblower (which is what they used). Also I currently live only 20 minutes from Erin (Georgetown)
LOL, agreed. My wife looked at the house, I looked at the barn. 1200 Sq.Ft main floor 800 Sq.Ft upper level. with 20 & 40 amp service and hot/cold running water.

Well we made a change and now are the (soon to be) owners of 4.8 acres in Erin, ON.
Hence my heating with Propane question.

Wow congrats! That looks awesome! What's the little building on the left? Chicken coop?
Is that a pond on your property? I sure hope you like to blow snow and mow the lawn! I'd love a property like that! Serious barn / shop envy from here.

Chickens can be a fun hobby , eggs and eventually bbq . If the ponds are not too far from the house , a heat pump could be in your future . Lots of potential to live the ‘country life’ .

We have chickens and our dog died a few weeks ago. The wild life started attacking the coop after a week and is relentless. Only 1 chicken left at this point. Unbelievable how everything decided it was free lunch time as soon as the dog was gone.

Congrats. Are you currently rural now or will this be a transition to the country life?

That's a Dog Kennel
There is a coop on site that can handle 100 chickens and a small fenced in pasture for small live stock (goats etc.)
The pond is very close to house, so we will explore options. We qualify for the GRCA rebate which is nice as it lowers the property taxes greatly.
My wife wants to foster a few dogs as her new hobby/passion and mine will be cutting grass in the summer and blowing snow in the winter.
At this point not sure about more animals, but it is something to consider. We want our space, a simple lifestyle and to try to stay ahead of and away from Brampton growth (Wishful thinking)...

Expect a few GTAM meets on the property next summer!

Georgetown now, so we consider it a transition. But to be fair we're only 20 minutes away from Georgetown.

Not trying to defend your mom. But I think this might be typical old school eastern European mentality.

They seems to always point out the negative in things even thought the positive is staring straight at them.

Not going to lie. I find myself doing that at times too and I hate it.

Yup. The Polish scowl and negativity is something I'm very familiar with.
I call up my mom and tell her it's a beauitful day and she'll respond with "I see a cloud and it will rain tomorrow".

Be careful fostering dogs , we (wife) had a very difficult time letting go.

Yes, I've warned my wife about the heart breaks... so we'll see...

It's not a Polish thing, it is an old people thing. My mother is the same "glass is always half empty"
Luckily my MIL is not like this at all, always happy and positive.

Really? I’ve never seen it in other people’s moms.

My mom on the other hand? ‘Oh, you bought a WRX what are you 15?’

Meanwhile rich BIL gets a M240

‘What a smart move by BIL. Wow. Super good choice.’

WTF!? LoL

Once again, I love my mother…but I’m sure she contributed to my baldness…

It’s not just Eastern Europe, my MIL a Newf, you never said “ Hi , how are you ? “ it would take an hour . My mom , oh you bought a motorcycle, did you want your kids to be orphans ? Oh you bought a big boat ? You wanna drown my grandchildren ?
It’s just moms .

Glad to hear I’m not the only one getting that treatment from mom lol

Back to regular programming…

Working on the stupid little details. Filling nail holes, sanding, refilling, resending.

Caulking the trim pieces where there are any gaps. I hate caulking with a passion, but I’m not horrible at it.

Preparing to paint the final sections of trim, and then returning the scaffold hopefully next week!

Thoughts on OSB for shed walls? They'll be clad with siding later on anyway. Thinking 1/2" ply ($45/each) for the roof, but 7/16" OSB for the walls ($23/each), or 3/8" plywood for the walls @ $33/each.

Nothing heavy going to be supported here, and it's build from 2x4 framing.

I’d use the 3/8 on the walls , it’s only $100 more than osb ( Im generous with your money) . It’s not really any better than osb in that application, but i like the look on the interior better , if it matters

I have to agree in regards to the looks. But always easy to spend others money. I'm sure I'll be there soon enough when I have to lay a new floor in the 2nd story of the barn, looks like the previous owners started renovations (new staircase & walls) but looks like a divorce got in the way. So now it'll be my turn.

How about 7/16" inside (paint) and outside. I did the inside with osb and painted it. Cleans it up. Trimmed out the door and window inside. I cant help myself 😬

Thought about that...but for now I'm just doing the exterior and then start putting stuff in. I need to finish this shed, so I can cut the old one and start work on the final wall before the weather turns much worse.

Once the new shed is done, move everything over, empty out one side of the old shed, insulate the wall and put put up trim and siding. Then deal with the new shed.

Plus if I'm putting in OSB in the new shed...will have to wire it all up, and potentially insulate it, but not sure if that's worth it.

A few pages back there's a whole process of 'start with A, add this, that and the other...and watch the project grow 10x'.
