Embridge Workers Scam

The biggest "tell" that they were a fake company was when they told you they were from Embridge...no such company exists ffs

I hope you never work on my house, lol.

Chances are someone like him will work on your house next time it needs a meter replacement or (God forbid) there's a leak somewhere.

Doubtful, I am sure there is a standard of whats reasonable (ie during business hours). Keeping something "accessible at all times" is very different than you thinking you have some right to access it any time you like (ie 24/7). I can't stand how people think they are such bad ***** at their job by saying macho moronic **** like this. Maybe it's time to give your companies manual a read huh?

Dude, nothing to do with reading the meter. Everything to do with making your home safe. You give those guys attitude, enjoy freezing and I won't shed any tears over you. If an Enbridge contractor needs access to your home, chances are it's because there is a problem that could put your family and neighbors' families at risk. Just because gas comes down a pipe doesn't mean it's not an explosive substance. You either cooperate or buy a bunch of space-heaters.. Putting yourself and others at risk isn't an option.

I feel bad for you. This is where you derive your self worth from. Its sad. Oh well.

Nothing to do with self-esteem. Those people are there to make your family safe. They also have to play within a certain set of rules or they can be held criminally responsible. If there are certain code violations because you or the previous owner cheaped out, they have to be addressed or the fitter loses his licence and faces an anal probing from the TSSA. They may look the other way if the code violations don't pose a hazard, but they aren't required to (or technically supposed to). You make their job easy, they'll be more likely to look the other way. You make their job difficult, they'll go over your home with a fine-toothed comb and I haven't been in a house that was 100% code-compliant, ever

This happened to my brother over 10 years ago, they showed up with a FREE shower head and had him sign a log book with the address. They then transferred that signature to a contract for almost double the rate. Enbridge is fully responsible for the actions of their contracted reseller. Took over 3 months of fighting to make this go away. He threatened legal action for forgery if they don't produce the original. And that's when they dropped the issue and reinstated his old contract. All the fighting was with enbridge not with the marketer, so in IMHO, enbridge is just as guilty for using or at least tolerating/defending these criminal tactics. The funny part is they still come around every now and then, and if I am around, I will get the pleasure of answering the door. My advice is don't show them anything and forget about their free gifts.

I call BS. Enbridge never used contracts for gas. That would of been Direct Energy. Enbridge doesn't use re-sellers. They are a distribution company, they don't make money from the sale of gas. They use below ground contractors, Linkline, Aecon, and above ground contractor, Lakeside gas. Linkline and Aecon do mains, services, Lakeside does meters, regulators, stations, gate houses, ect. They did have a Tapps program, where they gave away free low consumption shower heads, but the homeowner never had to sign anything. Direct Energy was having people signing a paper saying they showed up at the house, and below that paper was a contract, but the legislation was introduced banning that practice. To blame Enbridge for what other companies do is pure ignorance, and stupidity,
