Hi guys,

I am planning an East Coast Trip. It has been in the works for quite a while

Date: July 1 - July 9th
Time: 9am sharp.
Please be gassed up and ready to go, so that our tanks are synchronized
Location: Tim Hortons at Midland Ave. & Midwest Rd
http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=Midlan....767088,-79.27096&sspn=0.004184,0.006899&z=16

Accommodations: Hoping to share motel rooms or individual motel rooms.

Route: We will take the Canadian Side to get to the East Coast and Take the US side to get back here. Here is a rough outline on the route I plan to take. I am open to suggestions:
http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?msid=210149549949150726904.0004a652d7ee19d00fbe8&msa=0

Group Size: I prefer a small group, but if there is another person who can potentially lead and catch up with the rest of the group if anybody get lost, that would be great. My ideal size would be 3 persons, but who knows.

Speed & Rate:
I will be in exploratory mode, meaning, I will be absorbing the scenery, and having a sense of adventure. I don't mind enjoying the twisties tho.

I will update the 1st post of this thread as time progresses to keep everyone up to date.

Cheers
JC

I have been planning a trip, I want to go to Deals gap, but if that doesn't work out I might be in for this trip. Its a tad long for me though, only can take about a week off work.

If its too short it will be a waste of trip. The journey there is long enough. Its possible to do in 1 week, but we will just be riding non stop and not look at scenery.

Sorry its on the July month. I was going to go in June, but they told me the weather there is not so predictable then. Its a month behind from Ontario.

Thanks for the ppl who messaged me. I know its hard to get 2 wks off. I will update as time goes by

Got some Saddle bags for my bike. I hope they are good enough. I think I should test them out before the trip

I'm interested. How much do you think a trip like this would cost?

I would say roughly $1,500. I don't know if you want to factor in meals.

If u could get somebody to share a room, that would cut down cost of living expenses. For meals, u have to eat anyway, whether u stay in toronto to go

Wow, don't think I could afford that this year. Planning on going to Greece in October too.

Yeh, the main expense is living.

I am tempted to cut it short to 1 week now. This trip was delayed for 2yrs so I really want to get it done

We did a 9 days trip two/three years back and it was roughly under $1K. 3 of us were sharing the motel/hotel.

Yeh, I was being conservative. I did the calculations and it came up to $8xx. I like to overestimate tho, because there are hidden costs sometimes

keep in mind that it takes 3 days to get there. might want to make it a long weekend departure

True.
I had a crazy friend who did it in 14hrs, lol. I am not gonna do that though.

$8xx is more like it. My wife and I did this trip 2up last September over 7 days, with nice lunches, big seafood dinners and great accommodations (mix of cottages/B&Bs and hotels) for around $1100 total. Give yourself 9 days though.. 7 days felt far too rushed.

Yeh!
If we could combine the trip with a long weekend, I think I would be able to afford additionally 3-4 days off.

The route is about 2200km. Considering that 750km per day is an easy relaxed ride, the way there and back can be made in 6-7 days?!

RockerGuy, if you could plan the route such way, I'm more likely in! :p (10 days is a bit long for me this year :sad8:)

The back rout could go through US ~2000k Briefly back route

I guess that would be the cost if several members can confirm it.

I would love the seafood dinners, lol.

I am planning to go to Cape Breton, to do the Cabot trail, with my girlfriend. We are taking 2 weeks starting from July 16, hoping to go through the US, & return in Canada.
