From reading GP's Ducati demo ride list of requirements, I'd say they have the strictest rules regarding gear. Test rider beware.
I am asian and at first being in whitby/ajax i felt a bit alone in the sense that there were no other asians there or on the demo ride. But i dont feel at all the the lady in the booth is racist, i did over hear her asking other ppl to pull up their pants to see if the boots covers the ankle.
It REALLY would of sucked if they turned me away. So for the guy who came from oakville?? im sorry to hear you didnt get to ride the bikes.
At the end of the ride, a sales person by the name of Jeremy came out to ask how the ride was, he was great, answered all my questions, explained the bikes to me, handed me a card and said come by and we can let you try out a monster 696 demo if im serious. I personally had a great experience!!
Have you done a DOCC trackday? The tech inspection for bikes and gear is the most intensive you will see.Same with getting out on the track each time.Wrist band, helmet sticker, helmet done up,gloves done up,back protector feel up,visual bike check and off you go.From reading GP's Ducati demo ride list of requirements, I'd say they have the strictest rules regarding gear. Now, as for why one guy was offered a loaner pair of boots and not the other, I can't say. It must have been dealings with different people.
Maybe they didn't have the right size?...just one pair of boots were there by chance?
i was actually so desprite to ride the bikes, i ran into the store and tried to pick up a pair. as they didnt have my size, a gentleman behind the counter heard and said "here try these on" and whoopie they fit.
That's awesome, by chance was it and older guy? - Bob maybe? I got my bike from GP last year (Jeremey helped me out with the bikes and Bob got me decked out in gear with amazing discounts, he's like well if I make this 3 a 2, this 8 a 0 and this 9 a 0 that makes your exo 1000 helmet $200 no tax, lol. Great place. Kinda sucks though I missed out on this demo ride, in 2 days it's my 21st birthday, called them to see if I can still do it, got the license requirements and gear and *could even show insurance on either a motorcycle or car (thought that was a weird request for a demo ride, never heard of that before), no dice, rules are rules
Still, GP Bikes is my favorite place.
Well, if your boots aren't all the way up your ankle you cannot ride. (ie. motorcycle boots)
I had work boots that cover my ankle and they said i couldnt ride
I kinda felt discriminated against cause i look young and not a majority skin colour too; they didnt check any of the other riders when they registered, they just asked and took their word (btw, im 24, male, GM license and been riding for 8-9years)
so coming from Oakville, its an hour drive through traffic and then two hours back.
Thanks for nothing GPBikes
Why are you blaming GP Bikes for a decision made by Ducati Canada employees?
If you're going to go on a ridiculous internet rant, at least make sure it's aimed in the right direction.
The demo day was organized by Ducati Canada.GP Bikes hosted the event with the use of their premises. Is all this fuss about one rider being denied a ride because of improper gear? I don't get it.Does GP Bikes have a handle on this forum? I actually wouldnt mind sending the owner an email of my last experience...I spent well over 600 on a helmet and loved it first time I was there..but wouldnt mind talking to them about my second encounter that has not had me back since.
