Drive thru ATM Etiquette

This is my point. There were two defined lanes leading up to two ATM's. in this case, two lanes, two machines. Camping across multiple lanes is wrong IMHO. What I did was a dick move, but I did it for purpose. I wanted him to realize just how big a dick he was being :p What would be the response if this same person was parked in rush hour traffic straddling lanes waiting to determine if one lane might move before then other?

Why does everyone who gets in a vehicle want to try and teach people lessons?

There's only one lesson that you taught him... See in red above.

2 lanes, 2 ATMs...pick one line and luck be with you. 2 lanes, 2 ATMs...and you straddle both lines to get fastest one...you're a dick....and I'll pass you if given the chance. 1 lane and 2 ATMs....wait in line.

A German once told me, while waiting in line at the bike show actually, that line-ups were invented by the English. Not sure if its true or not but he was ******! I want to say that it is sad that common sense has now been replaced with the logic that OP is using to justify his thought process. And Baggsy put it best with his question on lessons! Why would it be in anyone's best interest to pick a side - common sense suggests that the fastest way for everyone out of the line is to wait back far enough to go to the next open spot. OP is destined for a punch in the head one day methinks!

This.

If space permits, a single lane that feeds multiple service stations makes the most sense to me.

I agree but in situations where you are driving, most times there is limited space and not lining up at an atm/gas pump/mcdicks drive through means parking lot entrance blocked, or cars still out on the road...common sense would dictate pulling in, picking one and lining up

Right. And then you pull up to the pump where the lady ahead of you goes inside to pay, drop a deuce, get some lunch and lotto tickets.

I hate people.

If there are 2 lanes, too bad so sad for buddyboy. Should have picked one as soon as you came in and stuck with it. At drive-through ATM's I straddle lanes but keep an eye on the rearview.. If I see another vehicle coming up, I immediately move and pick one. If not, I just wait for the first one to open.

On the way back from the buffalo a few weeks ago there was no line up to get back in. Every booth had one car there and a few had another car waiting. Well I pick one that only has one car and pull up to the stop sign. Buddy is taking forever, then I see the trunk pop up and the officer start walking to the back. It took at least 5 minutes for this guy to finish with the car. During all this time of me waiting for this booth, the ones on either side finished with at least three or more cars.

I kept debating with myself and discussing with my wife if I should reverse and pick a different one. But of course my paranoia kept me waiting for fear of looking like I was trying to hide something if I reversed and went to a different booth.

this is silly, people are trying to find one solution to two different scenarios.

1. There is enough space to form 1 line, line up behind it and choose the ATM that next becomes available.
2. There is not enough space to form 1 line, so you pick a line and stick with it.

It seems like the OP is in situation #2, someone decided to apply rules from situation #1, OP decided that it is unfair and applied vigilante justice. (cutting ahead in line).

There's one fatal flaw in your theory. I'm in my Audi. Gas tank door is on the right. I'm behind someone in a civic. Gas tank door is on the left. Pump opens up on the left. I have to wait behind the civic until a pump opens up on the right so they pull ahead.

Oh, and I hate people too, but you already knew that.

Did they forget to install reverse on your fancy Audi?? :)

Its impractical at a gas station to have one line. It still annoys me tho.

This is a little better with the pay-at-pump only pumps on the perimeter of the station. I find that to be faster more often than not.

You're assuming the people lined up behind me know how to use reverse. Gas tank door is on the right on my VW too, but Audi sounds more posh.

Another situation - Timmies Drive through with double speaker phone lane , one guy arrives first, I arrive to the second speaker a few seconds after, I am done ordering just a few seconds before he does, do i floor it and get in front, or take my time and let the guy go in first since after all, he arrived first but took a few more seconds ordering?

White People's problems... oh and I also hate people

There's only one lane. How would you get around him?

Go once you have ordered or the whole system will get messed up.
